And funny enough I do totally agree with Vintage. What is especially off putting for me with Pioneer is, that they ask 800-1000 bucks for controllers that are not as durable as Denons cheaper offerings.

The only thing you can do is read the manual see what midi channels allow you to activate backlighting and then map that in traktor to the controller when the button is not pressed.
For reference how to do that in Traktor please check out the Traktor Bible.

VDJ 8 will cut you off if you have no license for it. The GMX does not come with a license for VDJ 8 Pro, you need to either buy it or subscribe.

I think Todd summed it up good.
Also talking to some Denon distributer guys the word is:

USB recording is not an issue as they expect 80-90% of the users to go with a Serato setup and only use the standalone feature as a backup of sorts.
Engine 1.6 will be out Soon(TM) as it is already in testing.
The reported freezes were with pre-release firmware, this should not be an issue with the released firmware.
Latency: 99% a laptop issue as some people insist to use generic drivers on Windows machines. No reported issues on Macs.
Mirroring was requested by customers, a landslide 90% voted for mirroring in a facebook poll.
They expect that the controller will be used in a flight case when used with DVS etc. so the case will bring the controller up in height and the slimmer profile makes it more portable for backpack use.
The effects they have seen and already put in a change request.
The LEDs are configurable in brightness and jogwheel response (what Todd said).

1500 for that setup? that is 100% a scam, the DJM 900 alone does not go below 800-1000 heavily used.

Indeed and he is telling you that the answer is: You should be able to answer this yourself if you learn a bit about music theory.
There is no shortcut here. Some people seem to think that DJing is the shortcut to music and all we do is push buttons, so there needs to be a simple manual. Fact is this only means the basic skills (pressing play) can be learned by anyone quickly. But if you want to do some serious things, you need to know about music and how music is build. So you will need to learn about music theory.

I would recommend buying at least 2 books.
    1. How to write a pop song (I know it says pop, but it applies to all modern music in theory)
    2. any intoduction book to music theory

Glad I could help, I am sorry I cannot send you direct links on the VDJ page, as they are login pages they cannot be directly linked to. But the tutorials there should really get you started. It is build like Wikipedia for VDJ, so if you know how to navigate wikipedia you are good to go.

Sorry buddy, this is our turf 🙂 The forum here stands on its own and Phil only provides us with the room for our nice community 😉

    So on to your question:
While I have heard of Mixler I am yet unsure if this actually fulfills all legal roles to actually allow you to broadcast. Having the technical ability to do so, does not actually allow you to do so from a music rights perspective. Deep inside their EULA they state that you are liable for what you play, so honestly you can only play your own songs legally if you do not have a radio license.

Most real internet radio stations I know and have worked for usually use some sort of shoutcast service that is either built into some DJ software (such as Traktor or VDJ 8 Pro) or use it via SAM broadcaster which comes with an extensive manual on how to connect it to your software.

In your case the main problem seems to be the software routing VDJ into the virtual output device. To solve this problem go to the VDJ homepage and login with the account that has your VDJ license on file. Then go to the VDJpedia section and you will find a howto “routing to virtual devices” that should explain everything to you. Please note this section is only for registered VDJ users and may not show up unless you are logged in correctly on the website.

Well first: I actually spoke to someone from Serato about Whitelabel and they said that they have very strict rules from the record labels about how they are handling it. They actually would love to give you the tunes for free in best quality for all they care, but they cannot. So it is not on Serato’s end what the rules of Whitelabel are, but due to record companies dictacting them those rules.

Yes Prime Music is included in the standard Amazon Prime membership, nothing extra is needed.
Music is not “for free” per se in the Music Player, but as long as your mobile phone or tablet/PC does support an Amazon Prime app you can even download the tunes and listen to them without internet for a period of time when they “re-check” if you are still subscribed. Of course you can play those only in the Amazon Prime Music player. So in order to DJ with them you buy them and get the standard HQ mp3 download (similar to beatport mp3s). However sometimes mp3s are discounted for Prime members, I have bought tunes for as low as 50cent (no pun intended).
