ModeratorTraktor has always been, let’s say, the least friendly when it comes to mapping. On the other hand they have a huge community that is into that. Sites like the Traktor Bible and the Traktor forums should have plenty of folks who have already done what you want or can point you in the right direction.

ModeratorNo, I mean I think that the XML that worked for Serato SSL no longer work for current versions of Serato. Things apparently have changed.
I have never tried hooking up non-supported gear to Serato, so can’t help you any further.

ModeratorI had a really nice reply (long too LOL). But for some reason it disappeared.
In essence it says to stick with the proven format:
1) Check your current workflow, then see what you want to change in order to get to your desired workflow
2) Check your current software, does it still match your workflow closely enough, or do you need to look at other software
3) Set a budget, don’t become a victim of the shiny buttons and blinking lights devil
4) Pick 2, max. 3 controllers that fit workflow, software and budget. Get some hands-on time with them if you can
5) Make your final choiceChanging software is not something to take lightly imho and VDJ supports just about any controller, so no reason there for switching either.
MTP2 to SB2 is not an update I think. It’s at the same level of quality/features. If you are only looking for something newer, the MTP3, SB2, Beat Mix 2 and MC2000 still make up our starter preference list.
For real upgrades you will have to dig deeper into your wallet. Terminal Mix 8, DDJ-SR/SX, MC4000, NV are all suitable options. Finally, the SB2 is NOT a 4-channel controller. It’s a 4-DECK!, 2-channel controller. And personally I think that having only two channels to control 4 decks leads only to chaos. So apart from occassional use, don’t worry about 4-deck unless you intend to do lots with 4-decks, but even then you are better off with a 4-channel controller.
Hope that helps.

ModeratorYep, never know who you meet when you are spinning on a regular basis. At the very least you’ll receive invitations to play private parties for the people that see you at the venue.

ModeratorHi Subba, welcome to the forums. Enjoy your time here.
I had to move your introduction to a post of it’s own. You introduced yourself in someone else’s post. Not the right way 😀

ModeratorSince you are not going there for the money, you get a month to figure out if you like it and if they like you enough to keep you on, the only risk you seem to run is the ticket. Since you have to eat/drink at home too, that is not a consideration.
Seems to me that -worst case scenario- you will spend the money for a ticket to go on a 1-month trip (vacation?!) where you even get to play at least one live gig.
Unless you are giving up a well-paid daytime job, I’d say it’s a bit of a no-brainer. Go and have yourself and adventure!
As for things not being what they seem, go with modest expectations and deal with reality in an optimistic way. It’s not adversity that makes the man, it’s the way he handles it (true for women too).
DJ Vintage
ModeratorI think the XML changed from SSL to the current version.

ModeratorNot sure what you are saying? Preset? Do you mean mapping?
In any case, I don’t think there is any DJ-Tech gear on the Serato supported hardware list. In which case it will not/never work with Serato.
Please tell us exactly what it is you are trying to achieve.

ModeratorNo need to call for more reactions. I will have to start considering that “bumping” a post, which is not allowed.
If someone else reacts then fine.

ModeratorGreat report, thanks.

ModeratorPlay “hip-shaking, foot-tapping, head-nodding” stuff during the warm-up, then it’s up to you. Usually you decide with the person responsible for the party what it is they expect. If they want the party to start after the warm-up, getting on the mic and officially kicking off the party is in order and needs to involve something floor-filling.
If you can ease into it, at the end of your warm-up start picking up the pace (bpm) and energy levels. Watch carefully at the crowd, try to figure out who the dancers are and who is reacting to what you are playing most. Once you pinpoint the dancers (usually ladies), you start playing to them and lure them on the floor. The guys will follow.

ModeratorThere really is no good way to connect things properly with your current setup I think. The X-over you have is intended for 2-way stereo x-over and has an added subwoofer output (mono). The thing is that your Mackies already have a x-over in them.
What you want to achieve is that the incoming signal is split in two parts, one the bit below 75-125Hz (which goes to your subs) and then the remainder of the signal (so minus the bit the subs handle) that goes to your tops (the Mackies). Inside the Mackies the built-in x-over then splits things in two again. Depending on the amp configuration in your active speakers this is either before the amps (if your speakers have two amps, one for high, one for low-mid) or after the amp if your speaker has only one amp. The Thumps are bi-amped so they have an active x-over.
Frankly, while there are some ways to physically hook things up, it’s never gonna be the proper way. Personally I’d try to sell the x-over/amp/subs and replace with one active sub suitable/matching the Thumps (Like the 18S). The sub will have x-over and you can just run stereo balanced leads from your controller to your sub and from there with balanced leads to each top. Done.
Looking at your current gear (Peavey is ok, X-over I know and not too fond of, I have a seriously dislike of the E1800X), I dare venture stating that you will have a well-balanced setup with only one active Thump 18S combined with your 15s that will outperform your current gear. And if you still feel you need extra sub, you can always add another sub at a later date.
You won’t have to worry about how to hook things up, 4 XLR cables and you are all ready to roll.
Hope that helps some.

ModeratorBest bet with “strange” sized units is either the manufacturer and if they don’t make flightcases, on their forums.
Should both result in no luck, you can always have one custom-made. This can be done online and irl. Prices generally a bit higher than off the shelf products, but you get to have it made to your exact specifications, for example with extra room for cables, a place to hold CDs, pens, paper, whatever.

ModeratorIt’s what we are here for, thanks.

ModeratorAn important thing is do you want pre- or postfader and FX signal in your DAW?
In the former case a simple 4-in/4-out sound card might do the trick also.
I think Todd’s solution won’t work for the latter either as DVS signal is also pre-everything.Decks -> sound card input -> USB channels to DAW -> either direct monitoring from sound card outputs to mixer OR loopback from DAW to sound card outputs over USB (latency issues possible though).
