Play “hip-shaking, foot-tapping, head-nodding” stuff during the warm-up, then it’s up to you. Usually you decide with the person responsible for the party what it is they expect. If they want the party to start after the warm-up, getting on the mic and officially kicking off the party is in order and needs to involve something floor-filling.
If you can ease into it, at the end of your warm-up start picking up the pace (bpm) and energy levels. Watch carefully at the crowd, try to figure out who the dancers are and who is reacting to what you are playing most. Once you pinpoint the dancers (usually ladies), you start playing to them and lure them on the floor. The guys will follow.
