You basically watch what kind of music the crowd are into and try to keep with that vibe. If something is going down well then dig out another similar track.

Depending on when and where you are playing you mitt be looking to build the intensity or keep it on the same level.

In some places the DJ is the centre of attention while in others you’re in the background contributing to the ambience.

So there isn’t really a hard set rule, play it by ear, thats what good DJs do.

On my radio show I generally play 1 style as I am looking to give myself an identity. I’m trying establish a fan base essentially.

Playing out I will have more music up my sleeve as it’s more important that people have a good time than it is to promote yourself.

Mr DJ who thinks he is the dogs dangly bits just because he’s a DJ. You have to be humble.

@Emma aren’t all the downloadables on Soundcloud low quality? I suppose you could always ask for a better version?

Good way to start networking!

Yeah I listen while at work. I often cue lots of tracks on Beatport or Juno and listen to those. Anything that grabs me I will add to my wishlist to check out again later.
