ParticipantRight that the ST had midi interface, but the amiga had the better chip set for memory access, graphics and sound. However, those guru meditation errors were very annoying.

ParticipantYeah – always amazed me that people would go for the ST based on a midi interface that was a $20 purchase for the Amiga even back then. I am still in love with Lisa, Denise, Agnus and their mum, Rock Lobster.

KeymasterI used to write for Amiga Computing and Atari ST User! I agree, Amiga was better but ST had the edge for music. Think Fatboy Slim is still using his!

But I do know that Amstrad were Forerunners of lots of thingsFirst to market doesn’t really matter. The Amiga and ST were the systems that came in as the next generation after the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum etc…. As for Amstrad – IMO they were about as revolutionary as someone developing a hole for a bagel today. They didn’t capture the hearts or minds of the home user and didn’t in anyway dominate the business market. And then there’s Alan Sugar….
I need to get out more.

Having said that, I had one of the Amstrad all-in-one computers (precursor to the current Apples for that stroke of genius) and it worked for years through my studies – was rubbish for gaming though (green screen for starters).
