    I have 3 Apple computer.
a Macbook (White one) from 2009 intel Core 2 duo 2 Ghz 4 GB ram and it fine for Traktor
a Macbook Pro 15″ from 2009 intel Core 2.4 duo 2 Ghz 8 GB ram and it fine for Traktor and I can run Mashine at the same time no problem. I also have Serato DJ, Virtual DJ, CrossDJ, Decadance 2, Djay witch all run without any problems.
an iMac 27″ intel Core 2 duo 3.06 Ghz 12 GB and can run whatever I trow at it.
All Mac running intel prosessors with at least 4 Gb ram will run any DJ software and production (Music/Video) software no problem. But I’ll say if you can save a little more do it. There is no guarantie that the next version of whatever software you’ll be using will be compatable with Mountan Lion and it can happen that a future version of OS X will drop suport for core 2 duo at some point. So with a never i5 or i7 your more future proof.
I don’t do much video editing so can’t coment to much on it.
I’ve been a windows user since Windows 3.1 and DOS and Basic before that. It took me about a week to get fully confetrable with OS X and the only think that was anoying me during that week was keyboard shortcuts and the minimize, maximize and close was on the other side of the windows/programs.

I do totaly love thoseProDJUser stands verry portable and easy setup and I agree that the American DJ stands are not as transportable . but hey for the most part we bring a lot of stuff when we play out of town or bigger sports halls so being transportable is not so much of an issu.

This is my car packed for a gig out of town last year only lights, we had an other car for the sound system.
Now I have more lights and bigger car 😀

I have 2 of these one is 4 ft the other is 6 ft. you don’t have to use the T-bars but nice if you have some lights.
One other trick a frind of mine gave me was to turn the lower par of the T-bar holder around and use them as speaker stands.

At one gig I did last year a girl got an eclipcy shock(is it called that) so I stopped the music while the gurards took care of her. othere then that time I’ve never had to stop the music.

Lights can be a bonus for sure. but if you realy want to use them as a selling point try to get as good qualetie as you can. for smal partys most of the cheepest LED light FX will do but they are usealy not so bright and in a big room can realy deliver.

The more lights you have to more you get asked to play…. then came the trap 😀 after a cople of shows you( the owner) get tiered of the setup and want to add something and after a few more all over again. I’m now at the point I’ve started selling some of the first lights I bought.
Now I just need a lot of moving heads and I’ll be happy for a month or two.

to use with Traktor Pro 2.6.1 you need Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8 so the one you linked you should upgrate the OS and upgrade to 4 GB ram would also be recomanded.

I happen to have 2 Macbook one white 2009 and one pro 15″ also 2009 model bouth of them run traktor pro 2 no problem.
The white has a 2 GHz Core 2 duo 4 GB ram and Pro has 2.4 GHz Core 2 duo 8 GB ram bought them used ( try to get one from a female they tend to care more for their computers 🙂 )
As long as it’s Core 2 duo and 2 GB ram it should be ok for Traktor but if posible try to get at least 4 GB ram.
I run Ableton live on my 2010 iMac 27″ 3.06 GHz Core 2 duo with 6 GB ram no problem and it also ran fine when I only had 4 GB ram.
You might want to consider a 15″ pro for the extra screen size if you like to use remix decks or even just 4 deck mixing. It will work fine one a 13″ but will be a bit cramped.

what computer and what controller (setup) are you using. could you somehow have messed up your audio setting inside traktor. distortion and crackles are often a latency problem.

in traktor make a new playlist and set it as preparation list. now you could map a button to sen track to preparatinon list. You can then listen through folder and add the songs you want to delete to the preparation list with that mapped button and when you get tiered of listings go to preparation list sellect alll and choose delete from collection a pup up will ask what you want to do with it there you can check to also delete from harddrive. only pain is you need to load each song into deck or preview player.

Thats the real problem reading on the Serato DJ forum only a few have been lucky using AMD with Serato.

The thing with Mac is all their line of computers (year models) are basicly the same only real differance being ram and cpu so in most cases when a software/hardware manufactur test their product on one of them and it works it will work on all of the mac models. With windows it becomes more a gamble. even if the specs for two windows laptops are identical there is no guarenty they are the same.

for the post fader fx to work you need to have Traktor set to internal mixing so it also depends on what mixer controller you are using with Traktor. but yes post fader works with all FX

don’t even think now what you should get in 2-3 years NS6 is already an old controller and ddj sx will also be an old controller by then. In 2 years their might be somehing that we in our wildest imagination could never have dreamed of.
The beatmix should be fine for a long time depending on how much you want to do with it.
