Oops, I misread the title! You wanted tricks…not effects LOL

Effects are not necessary with Trance because it already has many effects. Still, if you would like to trek down that path anyway, I find that some reverb and delay during the break can really make it sound juicier sometimes. Also, I think that playing a keyboard controller with your choice of softsynth would likely enhance a Trance set. I’m working on this right now for some of those long breaks.

Hope this inspires you a bit! 🙂

I live for Trance and Progressive. That’s what I truly want to spin when I go up on stage. However, because I’m not Markus Schulz or AVB I could’t land a crowd that cared for years.

It’s just more underground now. The downer though is that the crowds/fans only seem to like it if it’s coming from a major headliner. It’s still hard for newer guys to really break in.

This is so true here in LA. Although I must share that i hooked up with a really underground bunch a few weeks ago and they had me spin at a desert rave this past Sunday, and they loved my Trance set. I think this weekend was a turning point for me now that I found this group. They throw raves in the midwest as well, so I’m glad I found them.

It seems to me that producing and making a name of one’s self through that avenue is what will get some people to respect Trance at a big event. I say some because there are a lot of kids who say they hate Trance because it puts them to sleep.

No complaints here, just my two cents regarding what I’ve noticed.

I use Apple’s Logic software to finalize my mixes. Ableton Live is faster for editing, which is for the composing/mixing process. I then export a large wave file that has all of the individual tracks in Ableton. Then I import that large wave file into Logic and use it’s buit-in mastering tools. They are decent for now but I do want to upgrade to some Brainworx plug-ins or universal Audio plug-ins. They are juicy!
