As those thow, Terry and Chuck suggested if everything else fails go with the old-skool way,
Knowing your songs in and out, count the bars for intro and outro, write down in the piece of paper when you released the Play button for your incoming tracks, some thing like this:

    1. Track A, outro 01:42
    2. Track B, outro 00:57
    3. etc …

Almost the same dilemma which I have at the moment, should i get the hardware (Ableton Push) first or purchase the online Ableton Class first?

Being both almost at the same price point its added to the confusion, which right at this moment I can only afford one…
Its nice to get the hardware first, so I can explore and actually touch the thing and play around with it but then again I dont know zippo about the software itself the Ableton Live, so the hardware its going to be collecting dust, cus I have no clue whatsoever what do with it

Get the online-class first should be no brainer, it dont really necessary needs the hardware to follow the class, I can always use the keyboard and such, but then again during half the course I prolly more craving than ever to get the hardware, lol

SO yeah tough decisions, good luck !

Skins … brrrrrr … it is one of the things I have always hated about DJ Software that featured it.

How about skins from some exotic asian beauties, Chuck ? =P

The good practice for this also (and much cheaper solution), since you already familiar with Virtual DJ is to install the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus skin in your Virtual DJ, this should get you familiar with all the buttons in the CDJ

Google for Virtual DJ CDJ 2000 Nexus skin,
(everytime i just copy paste the link in here, my whole post just disappeared -_-)

Staring at your decks all the time its not a good idea, this is a mistakes that many young DJ’s have, they starrin at their laptop screen, bow their heads deep down in their decks.

Raise your head up high, analyze your crowds, look around left and right, and question yourself why this one crowds just sit in their table? Make an eye contacts with the honeys that dancing their butt off to your tunes that YOU Sir spin (err if there is no honeys in the dance floor at all questions yourself why) and most importantly SMILE ! I dont get why all todays DJ got this cold-horror looks in their face not a glimpse of smile at all. SMILE ! this is your Church, this is your office and you the BOSS, OWN IT !

    1. Just make sure everything flows, take em to the journey, for example, imo, you play some happy party flavor hip-hop, then you slammed it with some deep dark tech house, and then slammed it again with some happy party flavor hip-hop, this will confuse your crowds, try to do it for example a few hip hop tunes, then try to bridge it toward your tech/deep house, just find some good transition that can bridge the gap between those 2 different genre

    2. How soon is your gig? if its sometimes this week, I would recommended to play it “safe”, stick what you know and comfortable with which is Serato Intro just for now, later on you can opt for the upgrade

    3. usually for 1 hour sets, i prepped around 20 tracks, so 20 X 4 = 80 tracks or so, just like Terry recomended be ready for Plan B sets, make some kind of folder in your Serato Playlist, named it The Anthem, fill it with a songs that you sure-fired will rocked the crowd, somthing you can fell into if your Plan A sets didnt get the party jumping the way you wanted it, these Plan B sets you can pick one of the track to tease the crowd see what their reaction is

I have never used Twitter and don’t have any smartphone or anything like that, but may look into that in the future

Do that as soon as possible, the idea of having a twitter in your smartphone you can reply to your fans/follower quicker, instead of doin it in your laptop
You dont have to bling bling it with expensive Iphone, android phone is much cheaper now and it served it purpose
