actually, not too bad at all. as i said it was a friends birthday, and the brief was basically to play a load of 60’s type stuff for the first hour much of it selected by the birthday girl, then whatever i wanted to play for the next two hours, and then a randomish selection of pop type stuff also hand picked by the birthday girl. It turned out to be a pretty eclectic mix in the end which i was a bit nervous about as when i did the pub djing last year it was mainly downtempo, nu jazz type stuff.
i made a couple of mistakes that sounded obvious to me, but no one noticed and i got a few compliments and a bottle of laphroaig out of it.
Anyway, the long and the short of it, is that i got my first gig out of the way using my controller, and didn’t make a total mess of it.
Now, i need to see if i can blag my old pub gig back again…..
