In theory you can use any midi class-compliant device with DJay Pro for iPad I think. What you need is a Camera Connection Kit to provide the necessary USB port and you can’t charge your device while using it that way!

Also it depends if there is a mapping for it. I haven’t dug deep enough into DJay Pro to find out what options there are for manually mapping or to see what list of controllers is supported.

Hi thanks for your help I went and got a camera kit.the unit requires more power when you plug the usb cable from the Xdj-r1 into the camera kit. Lucky I’ve got a powered usb hub!so connected it all up and the sound seems to work cuming through the Xdj-r1,but none of the controls work!obvious you need the right mapping!is there anyway to map djay pro to the unit?
