    Well duplicate is out, as is PC only and 2nd screen only. That leaves extend as the only option. Here you most likely run into some issues regarding resolution. Is HDMI a native format for your laptop, or are you using an adapter?

    My laptop has a HDMI socket so no adapter needed if this is what you mean.

    Screen resolution for Laptop Lenovo g5oos is 1366 x 768 and Tv is 1920 x 1080.

    I can have Traktor running on laptop and using extend option show my desktop on 2nd screen without a problem.
    still images or slide show are no problem.

    I read somewhere online that you can show video on your desktop by using VLC so i downloaded it followed the instructions to the letter but it never worked 🙁

    I guess If push comes to shove I could edit something together in movie maker and burn it to disc and use my dvd player to project to tv but I would like to get everything working from laptop if possible.

    Sorry I was tired when i wrote this last night maybe the title should have been “Showing VIDEO on desktop” 🙂

    Hi, no problem.

    Yeah, multi screen video can be a bitch. Now if you used Mixvibes Cross or Serato with the video plug-in, I am pretty sure it would work from within your DJ software (it’s what it’s made for and I HAVE tried it with Cross, which is my platform)

    Not only do you need to do everything right, you have to do things in the right order or risk reverting back to the a wrong situation. Also window sizes have a tendency to live a life of their own when dragged to the extended (other resolution) part of the desktop. Perhaps you could try one of those tools that gives you an actual desktop PER screen (complete with taskbars per screen)?
