ParticipantIt’s solved!
I put my specs here, so people with the same laptop and problems can find this thread.
Dell XPS 15 (9560)
Intel Core i7 7700hq
16GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050I checked my latency with LatencyMon and there were several drivers and software causing latency. One of them was Dell System Detect. I uninstalled that. That helped a bit.
Then I installed new drivers for my wireless network card, internal sound card, GPU and thunderbolt controllers from the Dell website. I thought I had the latest, but there were a couple of newer versions. I don’t think installing the new drivers helped much. Then I started DJing with Traktor while running LatencyMon again. I noticed that when I use the laptop without the power cable there is higher latency.
I followed these Windows optimization tips: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/pc-optimization-guide-for-windows-10/
That helped a lot! I think a couple of USB power management settings caused most of the problems, so you’ve definitely been pointing me in the right direction. Now I’ve played for an hour and didn’t hear a glitch. However, LatencyMon still says that there are a couple of drivers causing a high latency, though much lower than before and it’s not noticeable. Most of them have to do with the WiFi card. To be extra safe while performing it’s best to turn that off in the device manager. I checked it and my latency is much lower now.
Thanks so much for helping!

ParticipantThanks! I’m gonna try this.
I hoped that if the power cable is connected to the laptop there wouldn’t be any glitches, but that’s not the case unfortunately. Don’t really feel like connecting a USB hub, since it’s yet another device I have to bring to gigs, but I guess there’s no other way.
Thanks for helping!

ParticipantDiscogs is your source!

ParticipantThere are a number of labels and artists which solely bring out good music (Clone records, Rush Hour, Delsin). I always keep an eye on those. Besides watching these labels I listen to livesets. These are the most important to me for finding new (or old) music. I listen to sets and check out the tracklist to find tracks I like.
I also use 22 tracks (http://www.22tracks.com), which is a great service. It offers you to listen to 22 tracks in 22 genres selected by top DJ’s from Amsterdam, Brussels and London.
Furthermore, my friends are a good source of information to me too. A number of them love deep and obscure music, which we share among eachother. When finding a good track, I use discogs to find more about similar artists or labels.

ParticipantI have just switched from playing vinyl for 8 years to working with Traktor and a midi controller. I love that I can play much broader sets. I used to stick to a few styles when buying vinyl, because I wouldn’t be able to play tracks in other styles in my sets due to the lack of more records in that style.
I also love the fact that Traktor remembers cue points. You don’t have to find important points in tracks anymore, they are already there.

ParticipantI bought the Reloop Jockey 3 two weeks ago and I’m really happy with it. Was in doubt between the MC3000 and the Reloop after reading the reviews in here. They do not differ much in terms of quality and functionality, but I could find the Reloop for €320, so the choice was easily made.
You should definitely consider the Reloop.

ParticipantThanks for the help, it’s appreciated!
Any chance the reviewer of both controllers has an opinion about this? Especially about the usability of both controllers. -
