ParticipantIt might be worth asking exactly what he had in mind. That should give you some direction as to where you should focus your efforts.

ParticipantYou could do a small test by creating a secondary folder on your hard drive, dumping a few tunes in there, and then point RB to the “test” folder on your hard drive.
I used to use the same library/folder with Serato and Traktor and never had any issues, but it would be wise to give it a small test with RB.

ParticipantIf the music was produced using quantized beats than the beat grid should stay locked in once you set it. Unfortunately, Traktor doesn’t allow the user to set multiple beat markers within the same track – unlike Rekordbox & Serato. I’d say if the beat is drifting in some of the songs, than give the jog wheel a nudge (manually beat match) to keep the tracks in time.

ParticipantPerhaps the club name itself is turning people off…? I understand why you’d want to go for a general term, such as EDM, because you’re trying to encompass a broad spectrum. But if your mission is to get like-minded people together to build and share their knowledge around mixing, production, hardware & software, then I think using a term such as EDM is exclusionary by default. I say this because when you use a very specific term, you have to take into account how people will interpret it. For example, what if there’s an entire subculture of hip hop or pop enthusiasts in your school who have a desire to learn mixing and production, but feel as though their taste in music doesn’t fit the “EDM” tag. What if there are a few bedroom warriors who are into nothing but House? I can almost guarantee you most House enthusiasts are put off by the term EDM – especially when it’s used to describe House music (even if there’s some validity to it). I think by using the term EDM you could be missing out on an entire population of people. Just my. 02.

ParticipantWelcome, Simon. My first controller was an S2 as well. It’s an awesome piece of kit, and can do a lot of cool things with Traktor. Personally, I think record pools are the way to go. Depending on the service, you can get unlimited downloads for as low as $20 USD per month. Different pools offer different services. If you do a search on the DDJT forums for “record pools” you’ll get plenty of information to get you started. Good luck!
