If you like the feel of the NS7 and Itch 2.0 you could go the route of getting two Numark V7’s (or even just one as it can control two decks in itch) and pick your own mixer…

I am starting to see V7s / NS7s used along with the Novation Twitch although this isn’t exactly confirmed yet.

And on another note, you’re not going to get very good at beatmatching if all your songs are at 128 bpm… I may have misunderstood the OP, but you need songs of different bpm to learn beatmatching.

Exactly. If all your 10 songs are 128bmp the beatmatching has already been done for you. At this point you would be working on phasing and phrase matching.

I just created a fan page too. When I am on soundcloud it says… Share as Vince or share as vinny blanc since the two are linked.

Another thing that supposedly could provide different results of a wave file when encoded to 320 kbps mp3 is the algorithm used – the most famous ones being “lame mp3 encoder” and “Fraunhofer mp3 encoder”. frankly, I have tested both and I wasnt able to detect noticeable differences in the final result (at least audibly). I never bothered to “null test” the resulted mp3s to see if there are any differences.

Is there a way (or program) to determine what algorithm was used to encode a specific file)

    Spandryl,

What exactly should I be looking for?
Complete cutoff @ 20k, 2 channels, anything else?

I saw it will also display what I think are:
    bitrate (kbps) ideally 320
    and
sampling frequency (Hz)) is this most likely always going to be 44.1kHz?

Are there any other features or way to utilize this program?

maybe even find some cool break beats, put em in decks c and d, and throw em in to spice up your set.

Hmm… what if you had 2 songs split into 4 decks this way… Acapella 1,Instrumental 1, Acapella 2, Instrumental 2. I know a lot of times its kind of wonky working with a seperate instrumental and acapella, but if you could get it to work seems like you could do some crazy mash-up style stuff this way.

    +1 exactly this.

If I had a 128kbps track and re-encoded it to 320kbps I am not gaining any additional quality (just increasing the file size? I believe)

With regard to the price difference…

Keep an eye out for new vs “new (other)” and other descriptors like ‘b’ stock, open box, used etc…

haha..the cast of Jersey Shore isn’t even from NJ. Well, Deena is and I’ve hung out with her but most of the other’s aren’t.

Jersey Shore-ites = gremlins (No redbull or dancing after 12)

I am from NJ so I can say this.

    Dyce,

Amazing mix. If I had one criticism the transition between track 1 and 2 was a little harsh.

The Barbara Streisand/ Beat it is amazing!
Song selection is right up my ally!

I’m not sure if its the same for the Mixtrack Pro (probably is), but my Mixtrack came with Virtual DJ LE (region specific I think)

I am using a Zalaman external 5.1 soundcard (got off ebay for 10$) So I was up and running with soundcard and Mixtrack for $120.
