ParticipantI know you stated you are a beginner, but does this mean you will strictly bedroom djing or wanting to play out soon too? Requirements for headphones for bedroom djing are obviously not as stringent as headphones for playing out somewhere with a PA system.
As I tell everyone, I happen to love the sound quality and design of the redwaves but they are a little clunky especially when wearing them around the neck.

ParticipantI was just in the same boat as you and ended up going with the NS6.
It really comes down to personal preference (If you can get a hand on both to try that would be great)I may try and put a side by side chart together (with input of other members) of the key and maybe even minute differences between the two. I don’t know how in a rush you are to make a purchase though.
Any specific questions I can help out with since I have been scrutinizing the two and still have it all fresh in my head?

I’m getting the “red flag” indicator above both inbox and alerts constantly showing 0 for both. Not sure if this is one of those anomalies that will auto correct or if there is another issue.

ParticipantI plan on doing a full write up after I fiddle around with it for a while.
I was close to finishing my next mix using the Mixtrack and Djay4, so this will be a good comparitor to what I was limited to by hardware/software and what was due to underdeveloped skills as a relatively new DJ. I will do the write up and post the mix together as soon as I can, but things are of course a little hectic with Christmas right now.
Also, I was able to save up enough to get this on my own so I still have my odyssey flight case, krk rokit 5s, cranestand, MBP Dock, apple wiresless keyboard and and trackpad coming for christmas to tidy up the home office.

ParticipantThe Mixdeck is like the Mixtrack but it is not considered a controller (and thus not found in the controller guide) because it plays cds. It is more of an all in one CDJ/Mixer unit. I hope this helps

The Redwaves…pretty good buy for the price. My only complaint is that they are a little clunky (especially when around your neck) but for starting out/bedroom djing they are fine.
Did your mixtrack come with Virtual DJ LE or Traktor?

Participantnice find.

ParticipantController – check
Laptop/Software – check
Speakers – check
Headphones – (soon to be check)assuming you have music to play and the cords to hook everything up you should be all set.

ParticipantEverybody Else seems to like the krkr routs in that price range.
You can pick up a set of krkr rokit 5’s with monitor stands and xlrs for 299VinnyBlanc
ParticipantI actually just sold my IDJ LIve controller…I actually had to put some thought in letting it go or not….
If I had an ipad I probably wouldn’t have parted with it, but the Iphone version of DJAY is just too stripped down and difficult to navigate the on screen features compared to the ipad.Decent little piece of kit for what it is…

ParticipantI remapped the right most knob on each side to a super filter then slided the fx paramaters 1 and 2 to the left 2 knobs and switched the fx select from a knob to a button (cycle through). This is the leftmost red button on the above picture.
The remaining three loop buttons are set to [ 1/2 ] [Loop ] [ 2x ]If we had a section on the site (or could send them to Phil) I would share the mapping, but it’s easy enough to do.
Keep in mind, my guess is you are using traktor so there may be better mappings following hessler’s link. I have a regular mixtrack that came with VDJ LE so I am using DJAY4 by algoriddim instead.
