    Sure. Why not?

Numark is now teasing a new Prototype of their TTX Turntables with “Build in Novation Dicer” Midi controllers. Hip-Hop and controllers are fusing (we know it already; they don’t)

I often do this after spending an hour or two twinkling around….

Did I learn anything new? Am I better at anything?

What I have started doing is ALWAYS hitting the “record” button in Itch before I start messing around for an hour and then listen back to it either right after or at a later time.

Be sure to go download the new version of Itch (2.1) from Serato as that will change some of the “shift” functions on the NS6.

Before – no hardware control of the SP6 Sample player
    Now – SHIFT+Hot Cues = Samples

Found this on another site let me know if it works. It seems to be a common problem.

    ————————————————————————————–
you need to make sure you select ‘numark mixtrack’ as the ‘device’ located:
file/control manager…top area in ‘device setup’
then scroll to ‘play/pause’ in assignment table
select ‘play pause’ for deck B (single click turns line yellow)
then choices will appear at bottom
make sure ‘invert’ box is unchecked

    Obvious really
the problem is ‘numark mixtrack’ isnt selected by default in the ‘control manager -device’ even though that map is active and working it defaults to ‘pro 2 default mapping’ which doesnt show you the relevant choices/settings.

I checked and your laptop has USB 2.0 ports. Here are you laptop’s specs if anyone else want to dig a little deeper.

I’m sure someone a little more familiar with kontrol s2/s4 will straighten this out for you. Just hang tight.

FYI Paris Hilton has already put out a pop CD = Pop music is still here. I wouldn’t sweat it.

Itch 2.1 is in public beta now (which brings hardware control of the sp6 sampler) and a bunch of other new features. We can start a new thread to discuss that or hit my inbox up.

    Loving my NS6.

    DJ Manhattan,

Welcome to the site. I too recently got interested/passionate about DJing and picked up a NS6. Best of Luck.
    I love your Logo/Avatar.

Do you have a preference on software as that will be a big difference between the two?

    American Audio
    -Virtual DJ LE
    -Traktor

    Numark N4
    -Virtual DJ LE
    -Serato DJ Intro

Sadly, I started so recently I remember this vividly. DJAY app on iphone and then extended my experience with the IDJ live hardware controller from Numark. I just knew I loved music and nothing about mixing.

The best piece of advice I would give to someone starting out is “Don’t spend a lot of money” There are plenty of articles and advice out there for how to start out DJing cheap. You may get frustrated and quit or just realize that DJing isn’t for you. Hopefully, you will find out that DJing is somewhat of a passion for you and with the minimal initial investment, you will have more money to spend and knowledge on what you personally need in a controller to make your next kit upgrade a more educated/enjoable expereience.

It’s really not a matter of upgrading your soundcard as much as giving you a second soundcard to work with for headphone cueing. You could pick up a mixtrack for $100 and an external USB soundcard for $10 as a cheaper alternative to the $250 for a mixtrack if you did not have to have the “all in one” unit.

Not to familiar with the unit…but is there a knob or option to adjust the ratio of headphone cue to master out? Can’t you just put this all the way to master to listen to your master out directly through headphone jack until you get speakers?

Is this what you are currently doing and having the issues?
