You can get a pair of CDJ-400s for about $700-750 they have USB inputs and cd drives. They are also native “controllers” for Serato Scratch live so you could play on them and use the software and if you laptop kicks, just switch over to the USB/CD source and keep going.

However, by the time you pick up two of these a mixer and the serato Rane interface, you might be better off with a Numark Mixdeck (or Mixdeck Quad) which allows you the flexibility to use CD/USB/Software all in one.

I’m glad you liked it. I’m going to play it out for the first time this Thursday. I can’t wait to see what kind of response it gets.

I am looking for a way to make the track downloadable for free, however it is getting caught up in the Copyright issue when trying to upload to soundcloud (hence why its up on YouTube) I know MixCloud is a little more leniant…

    I will keep you posted.

Serato Itch can only be utilized with Itch certified controllers. You can’t use the club’s mixer and cdjs for Itch…

I am in the US so it was a non-issue, but I didn’t want to get the hopes up of those outside the US.

Synthet1c, why can’t you beat juggle?

Keep in mind there are controllers with motorized platters; Numark V7, Numark NS7, Denon SC3900, etc.

FYI I got my Serato SL1 box for $200 (just look around)

If you are going to get an Itch controller, use it for ITCH! You are paying for a lifetime of free software rolled up into the price of the controller. To buy an itch controller to use as just something to map to Traktor would be a waste…

If you don’t want to focus on software / looking at a screen ; maybe look into using CDJs?

I hear nothing about good things about the Mackie TH15a (which are the 15inch version not the 12 inch you listed) but I imagine the build quality and such would be the same…

I am not familiar with the Behringers, anyone else?…

    K.C.,

Welcome to the site. You can’t go wrong with a Numark mixtrack PRO to start.

As far as “going down as a great” or anything along those lines….

I promise you that wanting to be great will not provide you enough motiviation to get through the many months of practice/frustration of starting of knowing you suck (yes this will happen) and you may never make it to even being “good”.

Your love of music and taking an intangible idea/concept for a song and perfecting and making it something “real” that you can share with other people and see how they react is what its all about. At least for me it is.

If I can help out in anyway feel free to hit me up here or on Facebook.

    I agree with synthet1c.

Take the steeper learning curve now and then take off, as opposed to taking some steps backwards later on just to move forward again.
