As Phil has pointed out, the keylock algorithm when used with wild variance of pitch takes a lot of processing power, and this can sometimes cause distortion in the tune

Caru, post: 9717 wrote: I really need some new ideas for this. At the moment I’m only using beatport, I usually give their sales charts for my preferred styles a quick listen and then decide I don’t like them, so then I listen through the DJ charts for the same styles and usually find tracks I like. It’s worked so far, but always wonder if I could be doing more.

Mixcloud is the best for this, find a mix with a good set of choons you like, and click through the tags on the tunes, to find other djs using a tune you like and see what they have mixed the tune with.. make a note of the ones you like, click on the “Buy ” tags to get a copy of the tune , dead easy…
Unless you go on some handsome sexy god of a dj’s mixcloud profile – called something like Ulysses i think,
the sounds he mostly uses might be a bit harder to get your hands on legally.. 😉

Right up my street that was, cheers for sharing, i enjoyed mutchly..
For a more in depth critique id have to listen again, i had your mixes running while tagging music so wasn’t giving full attention, but nothing glaring jumped out!

As for what i was tagging, among the stuff i was working on i found a Laurent Garnier EP i forgot i had 1994’s Planet house
I forgot how good it is, the standout track for me being this..

Gonna have a play with that and The Martian – Sex In Zero Gravity later, i’m sure i can build a set around them

Every good DJ i know is harder on themself then any critic, i’m sure its what keeps them good!
For example, your mix, its sounds great to me, but you, i bet when YOU listen to the rip, your thinking “i could have brought a certain choon in better then that, i could have done that differently to get it sounding better”

Hey i STILL do that after 20 years lol!
To be honest live you’ll get away with it, in fact the crowd will buzz off tweaking the mid / hi eq’s to give the kicks on the incoming tune more presence ( Shhh its a secret 😉 ) but remember to bring them back in line once the transition is done, or you’ll risk taking each mix higher and higher every time and clipping eventually
Recording a mix is a bit different because the audience can rewind and listen over n over.. And on that point i have a mate who is older and a million times more experienced then me, who when recording a mix, even though to my ears is note, gain and drop perfect, he will run that “Perfect” mix through Cubase until he’s satisfied

Loved it, Mate and cant really fault it, unless im hyper hyper critical, the levels / gains when you came out of fatboy slim tune at the end were a little out… wasnt a biggie though.. Timings were spot on and transitions were excellent!

    ^^^ What Hessler said, but..
If you do take it apart, here is an old Auto mechanics trick..
Once disassembled and the case or cover is off, put all the screws BACK in to the holes that they thread in to, where possible, and if knobs or controls had to be removed, place them back on too.

And definitely the last point.. Unplug before inspection! I have forgotten the number of electrical belts i have got off faulty dj or sound gear in the dark distant past, its a miracle im alive today when i look back…
