i always see producing dubstep like you produce hip hop or rap. the beats sound relatively similar but there is a huge diference between the dubstep and rap. rap focuses on the vocals being guided by a certain beat something with big bass and strong claps- Eminem, dr. dre etc. dubstep keeps the rap feel but adds a huge technical variety to it. instead of those violins making your head jam then the first kick hits your brain that lets you know your que to rap along, you hear this mechanical bassline build up, drop then an insane crash of robotic noises, wobbly bass, all the wile hi hats and symbals are tearing away at your earlobes and the guys voice sounds like a rap star from the future.- Excision, Datsik Etc.
to keep it simple all i did to learn how to make dubstep was to listen to rap and dubstep and listen to the similarities. the beat is the simplest thing to create from then on you can put your mad basstech skills to the max as long as your vibe is right.
let me know if this helps, it helped me

I Love to wear a dark colored shirt-preferably black, but with bright logos, icons and such on it. a nice hoody, unzipped with the hood over my head. I bought a lot of blank black shirts and splashed bright colored paint on them and it looks awesome, different pattern every night. i would normally try to make the bright colors stand out so i would wear black pants(Cargo pants for me) and dark colored boots. i also bought these gloves from California that are striped black and green and look great under different lighting.
my genres i play are drum & Bass/Dubstep to me when i think of a color that describes theses genres together i think of black as a base color with splashes of bright colors.
I guess what im getting at is dress the way your music makes you feel, Whether its rap with strong colors of purple and blue or techno with its exotic shades of colors.
