Thanks, mate. I’m not really looking for any money, the pure purpose of this is public exposure and building my image. Do I actually NEED to contact the place before I go there, or can I just rock up? There is a shopping centre 10 or 20 kays from me that has an outdoor section with no car traffic, I think it’s public because it has other little shops on the side not belonging to the shopping centre, but I’m not sure. Can I just appear in public?

Agreed. In noisy parts of the song when you are beatmatching, you can kill the mid and trebs and just see the baseline to make it easier to manually beatmatch. It’s always the not so known softwares that pioneer stuff like this!

Check out the Reloop Beatmix 4. This was only released a month or so ago and Reloop are having a special offer for free SeratoDJ in the box for “a limited time”. So if you get one with SeratoDJ, this saves you $129 on buying software. If not, Mixvibes Cross DJ is only $49USD and is as good (if not better) than Traktor, Serato and VDJ. This is my personal software of choice.
Follow your gut when it comes to hardware. You can always change your hardware if you want, but software typically stays with you forever so pick that first. And remember to ALWAYS look on eBay or other classified ads websites in your area for deals. I got a Reloop Beatmix 4 for $400AUD new, never used off eBay when they’re usually $600AUD from the stores.

I don’t always participate, but I read most threads on this site ;). Still here and thanks for that mention.

This would be a really good “Over to you” question for Phil. I myself have tried YouTube and Soundcloud, but little success. My best effort was a hundred and forty something views on YouTube, but I didn’t get over 10 Subscribers or Followers from my efforts on all my music.

Consider software first, then hardware. My personal choice of software/hardware mat the moment is Mixvibes Cross DJ with a Reloop TM4 (picked it up off eBay never used for $400 instead of $600). ALWAYS scour eBay and other classifieds websites for cheep cheep. Traktor Kontrol S4s, usually retailing for $900 go for $300-$500 used on eBay.

Read lot’s and you’ll come across funny words that just work. Put a few of these together and see if they work. Read a dictionary if you have one.

I already have a small sample library, but always looking to expand!

Yep, this is no child’s play! It just amazes me that professionals are using the same stuff as us.

I’m pretty sure those pads are actually on par with the Akai pads. They are velocity sensitive, so…

That’s HIGH GRADE! nVidia 870 will play most next gen games today, let alone DJ software!

    Ministry of Sound radio

Damn right, this all comes down to personal opinion. Some people dig EDM, some find it repetitive and boring. But that’s their opinion and you shouldn’t judge on that. Go with your gut.

Remember, the laptop is what you’re looking at all the time so check you have a decent screen (probs a touch screen if you got Windows 8). I prefer 15″ or larger (no jokes please). Just easier to see and everythings spaced out better, especially if you have 4 decks.

in reply to: Are my specs ok? #2047726

    What you mean by that?

Will it be fine for the computer? Sure. DJ software is a piece of cake for most PCs. If you’re worried about the SB killing your laptop, trust me it won’t. A USB port is only 5 volts and 2.1 amps MAX (that’s if you’re charging something). They’ve made USB fridges before to chill a can, so I think you’ll be fine. After all, all the USB power is doing is powering the lights!
