Tom Potten
MemberSo to maintain the mix when a song changes BPM I must accordingly beatmatch and tempo shift the other song to keep them in line? 🙂

MemberPush the levels to 2 bars of Orange (can vary depending on the club’s PA system though). I couldn’t get my music loud enough in my first gig cause of the clubs poor PA system in the room I was located in, however that is no reason to not try and smash the dancefloor 🙂

Could you explain how i’d do this with a mixtrack pro and traktor pro? 🙂

MemberMy DJ software is Traktor Pro and this is why; I am a really visual learner, which is weird since DJ’ing is an audio experience. However, using the Spectrum waveform mappings in the software fascinates me, reading the beat patterns, colour changes for high/mid/low frequencies are so cool. Plus I love how well you can map a controller into the software, the buttons and layout is really responsive. Love it!

MemberI’m Digital, never used a CDJ before and I don’t fancy placing that much risk on my 1st ever DJ gig haa. And i Shall have plenty of big tunes ready to unleash when the time is right. I think it’s easier than ever to have an amazing time at a club cause there are so many sick tunes out there that most people know 😀

MemberAaah cool man :~) i just got booked to play at Embrace over Freshers
Tom Potten
MemberOkay cool. There are 5 total rooms in the club. It is the superclub in Sheffield called Embrace. The club opens at 10pm, my room will open at 11pm for VIP. The club closes at 3am so my room shuts 1 hour before overall close. I will take this advice on board and plan accordingly. I have plenty of dubstep, drumstep, dnb and 110 stuff to throw in late night to really get my (hopefully) crowd jumping.

MemberYeah yeah i got the recording down, recorded loads of sets. It’s just once i’m hooked up to a new mixer and stuff like that i’m gonna have to change it about to match the external mixer or something i imagine. But yeah got like 4/5 mixes up on my Mixcloud plenty of bass in there woop

MemberAlso after reading DDJT articles encouraging Mashup and Producing I gave it a go with a couple of big songs 🙂 I aren’t a great producer so I only have mashups and mixes flying around at this moment in time.

Memberexactly the kind of attitude i want to put across. i aren’t an ego-ist like a few cdj dj’s i have met, but at the end of the day both pieces of kit do the same fundamental thing which is entertain a crowd. and if you can entertain a crowd on a piece of hardware and some software then so be it.

MemberOkay cool, so put a DJ with 2 CDJ’s & a mixer & a laptop with Serato timecode, next to a DJ with a Numark mixtrack pro and Traktor 2.5, there is really not much technical difference between the two? i’ve recieved criticism for my use of digital dj gear but i see alot of club DJ’s using laptops with their CDJ gear these days and i’m adamant to prove people wrong about digital dj’ing.
