ParticipantLog into the Virtual website, go to Addons, pick version 7 (even if you’re using version 8), select the Controllers tab, do a search for “LPD” and pick one of the mappings you like. Download and install.
It should work with 8. If not, let me know which one you picked and I’ll review the code to try and see what the issue is for you.
Good luck!

ParticipantThat would be pushing most video cards well beyond their capacity. Most can handle the laptop screen plus one extra screen and that’s it.

I suspect the mixer is your problem. It may require servicing, or at least a good cleaning. Would also be a good idea to check the cables just to make sure it isn’t one of them with the issue.

ParticipantI’d be interested to hear what people are doing for this too. I’ve been thinking about integrating some sort of live stream into some of my shows…
I’m hearing issues with copyright take-downs on Facebook live – I’d also be curious if people have hit similar issues with Periscope…

ParticipantQuick and dirty solution – turn off quantize and practice hitting the cue on beat. I have a number of longer tracks marked that way so I can skip around in them.
If you want to take the time, you can also load the tracks into software such as Audacity and create your own shorter edits. It takes a little time the first few times you do it, but you quickly learn your way around and can pump out the edits in no time flat.

ParticipantCan’t speak to Traktor, but I know roughly how you would go about this using VDJscript in Virtual.
You’d want a four deck controller with some extra buttons. You’d then map those buttons to “link” decks, so that one set of controls moved the levels for two decks. If you can map that with Virtual, I’m sure there is a way to do it with Tracktor’s mapping setup too.
Of course, on a more basic level, never underestimate what you can pull off with just two hands. With a little practice you can move around between controls pretty quickly to the point nobody would ever notice they weren’t linked.

ParticipantThe 6000 and lid wouldn’t be an issue. It’s all the other accessories that start eating up space in bags that you have to be mindful of. But if you aren’t carrying anything too exotic, I suspect you’d be just fine.

ParticipantWhen I was using an MC6000 a carried it around in a Big Namba Studio Backpack. Everything fit brilliantly. I wish my current rig would fit into it, but it doesn’t, so now I’m using a Magma Riot Pack XL. Quality of the Magma bag is fine and a year and a half in there are only a few minor cosmetic issues – nothing serious.
But you should look at the Namba bags. My god they’re beautiful. And comfortable. And just all around amazing.

ParticipantVirtual shouldn’t be freezing up on you, and if it is consistently happening then it is likely a hardware or driver problem at fault, and switching software isn’t going to necessarily resolve that.
I’d suggest starting with troubleshooting. What version of Virtual are you using and what are your computer specs?

ParticipantThis is why I always keep just enough travel points on my credit card – in case I need to fly somewhere and introduce them to my friend Batty the Kneecap Buster!
haha
Just kidding. Sorta. 😉

ParticipantHi Mack – Neither of those are really beginner controllers… Go for something a little more affordable until you figure out if you want to keep this up or not, then invest the money.
Todd Oddity
ParticipantYes, output matters. We’re in the business of sound and output affects sound quality.
90% of the bars and clubs where I connect my gear, I’m connecting with XLR.

ParticipantSoftware trumps hardware at this stage of the game, so try and pick hardware that works with the software of your choice.
But in this case, I think you need to work out a few details first, as a controller has transport controls while a mixer has none. I’m assuming with the mixer you’d use the software’s on screen controls? These are two very, very different types of workflow, and therefore very hard to compare.
Todd Oddity
ParticipantThey are both nice units, but if you’re worried about connections and want that type of flexibility, then my suggestion would be to go for the unit that has them built in, the Denon.
Todd Oddity
ParticipantYa, I own Denon and Reloop gear and it’s all solid as a rock. You wouldn’t be disappointed. Just throwing all the options out there.
