Firmware isn’t likely the issue, drivers are – try deleting and reinstalling your asio drivers. You won’t be able to use the controller properly without them working, no matter which DJ software you are using.

Also, make sure you are updated to the latest version (7.4.6) as I’m not sure when SB support was natively added. For the best support you should really consider upgrading to 8 however.

Okay, it has been awhile since I’ve played around in 7 so my memory of buttons may be a little off… but give this a try…

You shouldn’t need to have advanced configuration turned on.

    – Set “inputs” to “none”
    – Set “output” to “headphones” and select “Master 1/2 / Headphones 3/4” from the drop down.
    – Set “sound card” to “asio driver” and then select the Pioneer asio driver for the SB from the drop down list.

That should be all that is required for setup. Remember, the channels being talked about in Virtual’s config page aren’t mixer channels, they are USB channels for communication with the controller.

Again, what version of Virtual are you using. It makes a difference in trying to trouble shoot this. Also, there is something not quite right about how you are describing the channels which makes me think this is a configuration problem, and probably easy to fix.

I use a pair of JBL LSR305 for my studio and have been very happy. You can hear the bass, but it isn’t out of whack with everything else. They play a tad on the warm side, so not totally neutral for referencing, but a lot closer than the KRKs which I surprisingly hated.

Of course, room acoustics will produce totally different results for different people. And personal taste makes a huge difference too.

If you don’t want to use CDs, why do you want a controller with built in CD decks?

^ You should be able to fit all of that into the Riot XL pack – although I’d suggest a hardshell for the headphones if tossing them in a bag. Check your controller dimension. If the XL doesn’t fit, there is also the XXL – that thing is HUGE…

Get a powered hub — much less likely to crap out on you. I have a D-Link one. It was affordable, it works, and it was recommended by DJTT in an article they posted a few months back.

As for connecting it all together – try when possible to run your audio interface directly to the computer, not through a hub. One less thing to go wrong in the chain. Everything else can be hub’ed.

Generally you would never have cue active on both channels at the same time for general mixing – it should just be turned on for the channel you’re bringing in.

I’m not quite sure I understand what you are asking to do, but, if I’m guessing correctly then yes, Virtual’s automix feature should be able to do that. The automix editor allows you to set up the transitions between tracks in a variety of ways. I’ve never really played around in it – but it should do what you’re asking.

I believe you can access the editor in the free Home version, so download it and try it out.

    a. Loud Noise of the Club/Discotheque’s Speakers (Noise Cancellation)

I think you mean sound isolation, not noise cancellation. As Vintage mentioned, noise cancellation is an active process that is not at all appropriate for a set of booth monitor headphones. Sound isolation refers to how much background sound bleeds in to your ear from the surrounding room.

The SP1 is an accessory controller, and should work in combination with any valid sound card.

In VDJ the options I have for the DDJ SB audio setup are “Line (Pioneer DDJ SB)” with output 1 through 8, I have tried all the outputs yet channel 1 continues to play through the headphones.

Something here sounds off. What version are you using, and what exactly are your settings?

lol – Terry, tell us how you feel about Gemini! That said, he sums it up perfectly. Just don’t go there. While I’m sure Gemini are more than capable of building a quality piece of kit, they have yet to actually do it.

As for the software question – what are you looking to get out of it? A lot of people on here will preach Serato, and it is excellent software, but depending on what you want to do with it Virtual has areas where it excels. For example, I stick with VDJ because of the excellent mapping options and compatibility with pretty much all hardware. If you’re more familiar with the production side of things, you may want to take a good hard look at Traktor as it is the more “producer” like of the DJ packages – with remix decks and stems.
