Without a special external recording soundcard? I would say your chances are slim, there seem to be a few audio tools out there that HiJack the signal routing of the OS, but I have rarely seen them work reliably.

Yes you need the addon to use them in HID mode.
Soundcard will only give you Timecode support (so you need timecode CDs) and you need the DVS plugin.

So essentially if I understand there are 3 questions you want answered:

    1. Is the SB2 the better controller compared to the RB?
    Yes it is.

    2. Does the RB come with a better software?
Yes it does. Rekordbox is a “full feature” software and very close to Serato (not quite there yet, but as a beginner you will not feel the difference for quite some time)

    3. Is Serato Intro enough?
Yes and No. You can DJ perfectly fine with Intro and it has become miles better than it used to be. However the full version of Serato DJ is lightyears better. So yes it does make sense to upgrade to full Serato (and they have 50% off sales quite often)

So you have to decide: Better controller + buy best Software or limited feature controller without the need to purchase another software, but not quite on the level you would have been with the SB2 and Serato.

I am really getting annoyed here.
Read the 2000 topics on why CDJs are a bad idea, buy that S4 and have fun.

    Topic closed.

That Struis we are well aware of, however the majority of DACs in pro gear is made for “CD quality” which is 44.1.
Now unless you are at home in a quiet setting with a good room and an audiophile system (or good audiophile headphones) you will not hear the difference if you are over 20 years old.
Over a PA system in a club (which mostly cut out at 18kHz and have way more artifacts by the house mixer alone) you have to be a wizard to hear the difference.
This is also why most DJs agree that high quality mp3 or AAC is sufficient to DJ with and you wont need uncompressed WAV or ALS. The sound systems we play over are just not worth the effort.

Now if you are a home user and have a good system (like me) and want to listen to music that does not come from an overcompressed source like most todays EDM, so lets say Japanese recordings of classic music, then by all means go higher.
I have some excellent recordings of the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra by Sony Music Japan in 96kHz WAV. They sound amazing, but my DAC alone costs more than a Nexus system…

As far as I know that was when Serato was still not supporting Windows 10. Since Serato is now supporting Windows 10 I imagine you should have no problems. Since the TM8 also has its own power brick it is also not prone to USB problems like USB powered controllers.

I think you just need some more song preparation.
With house music it is very easy to store loops in prepared tracks in Serato, so I guess Rekordbox has the same feature. I just put in song preparation a hotcue in front of an instrumental 4 bar section that is easy to loop and store a loop there.
Then simply activate the loop and you have all the time in the world to get the second song right before you fade it in over the said loop. You can adjust the bass EQ to beat switch, you can overfade, you can nudge the jogwheel to get the alignement right… easy as cake.

Not possible with one deck. At some point you will have to rewind the track to the loop position, doing so needs the track to rewind and hence something else needs to play.
Of course you can have a second vinyl that is not the same song and have loop section (vinyl 1) -> 4 beat break (vinyl 2) -> loop section (vinyl 1). So it would technically not be a loop but a repeat twister, but this is the only way you can pull something like this off without having the rewind sound coming out…

I wonder if you DJ for 25 years you should be able to do it all manually?
You can simply mix in and out without the need for anything put the play button, channel faders and your jogwheels. Like old times. Actually works better on the RX than it used to on record decks since it has a marker on the jogwheels when you delay the mix in track.

Honestly I can turn up to 4 knobs at one time 🙂
But the key is not equipment it is timing and when to turn knobs.
