KeymasterThe S2 is absolutely OK to DJ with at any venue. Just make sure to bring the right cables with you to plug into the venues PA and you should be good. Get a gig and have fun.

KeymasterHonestly I do not think so. The code base for such a product is existing within Intro. Intro is a dialed down version of Itch and I am sure a lot of code has been re-used.
All they would have to do is make the freaking Itch features work in Intro (4-Decks, all the F/X with slicer, samplers,…) and Integrate some sort of License Number thing, then call it Serato DJ Pro and you’re done and it would work on all Intro Controllers. If they do that I would buy it hands down. As I hate having to work with Traktor atm…
But time is an issue, since VDJ 8 is around the corner it seems, when controllers are already announced with it (however that could be just as fake as the Serato controllers that were released hehe)Terry_42
KeymasterGood choice! Have fun DJing!

KeymasterWell if you have a Mac, even GarageBand can do that.
If you want the comfort of a mixing setup, but with another workflow you can use Ableton.
If you want rather editing than mixing you can go for Logic.
There are a lot of choices depending on your style of workflow.Terry_42
KeymasterI totally agree… something is taking too long here…

KeymasterFirst of all: What do you want the software to do?

KeymasterHe rang me up… and we were having coffee until now.
He was very friendly and actually he started talking about equipment in a matter: the other DJs still use CDs and are not so “pro”, so he wanted to talk to me about his equipment and possible enhancements to the PA.
He even offered me a consulting fee if I tell him what to buy and hook it up, as he does not trust the dealers that much.
I told him all about digital DJing etc. and he was very open about it, but wants good gear for his CD DJs also. So we will visit his club when it is closed to look at the PA and then come up with a budget plan.So all worked out really well, as it was him coming openly to me. I did not expect such a nice outcome, but then it seems there are still cool club owners. Thanks for all your opinions and inputs, I tried to be really humble about things and I think he likes that fact, I will also try to go for a solid budget and keep it “real”, so I might skip the CDJ 2ks and go for something more reasonable priced for his CD owners and for a plugin option for controller DJs with good booth monitors.

You are right of course, I had that in my head and wrote it wrong hehe

KeymasterWell you will not get motorized platters for that price point, but if you look for a controller with the best jogs to scratch on, I can say the Reloop Terminal Mix is hands down the best.

KeymasterWell it is not so much limitations, but it works slightly different than other controllers. The loops for instance work via the performance pads and I did not really get into that as easily as it was to get into the “usual” loop controls.
Also it is 2 Decks only and always will be.
While the jog wheels are nice, the jogs on my reloop or the NS6 felt slightly better.
I did not like the crossfader that much, but then it is replaceable.Do not get me wrong, this is criticism on a very high standard. All the critical points the controller is still better than most controllers out there. It is an excellent unit and works really really well as far as I could tell.
Check out Phil’s review, I think he likes the controller also a lot. If Itch is your game, I do not think you can go any better for a 2 Deck controller and the performance pads even put it above the NS6 in my book.Terry_42
KeymasterGood point. Guess I will drive over to his daytime Café and try to meet him there under relaxed conditions and then talk it over with him. Since he seems like a nice guy this is prolly the best way.
Thanks for your opinions guys.Terry_42
KeymasterI downloaded a software from versiontracker, I do not even remember what its name was… It looked like a CD and you could drag songs onto the CD, the songs titles would then be displayed in a circle on the CD and the programm would automix. You could alter some simple stuff like blend length, autobeatmatch settings and some minor tweaking…
At the time I thought: If this is DJ software I am sticking with my CDJs (and so I did for another few years).Terry_42
KeymasterI just use iTunes for CDs and have set it to 320kb AAC. I prefer AAC as I cannot really hear any difference in sound quality from the CD to a 192k/256k AAC and just go higher up to be save.
However I prefer AAC to mp3 as the sound in music with high dynamics I tend to hear a little “compression” in mp3 and to my hearing AAC doesn’t compress that much. For Vinyl I have a FW soundcard and use AudioHijack Pro and record directly to 320k AAC. Sometimes I record to WAV and convert to AAC in iTunes if it is a tricky vinyl. If the vinyl was tricky and I need to do some editing I load it up into Logic.

KeymasterFor DJing there will be no issue with the old one. Apart from being a moving thing a normal HD is sufficient. Just backup your software and you can easily buy a 1 TB pocket drive for backup for the cash you save.

KeymasterThere are worlds between the S2 and the mixtrack.
If you are starting out, get the mixtrack, as you can easily resell it and then upgrade when you better know your needs and DJ style.
I would not wait or buy the behringer… -
