Very nice… it is all about the passion for music and that is what it seems you got 😉
And even though Mexico might be a wild place sometimes: Isn’t it music that can bring folks of all ages, religions, races and beliefs together for a night of celebration, even in the hardest of times?

Auditioning is about mood control and surprise.
I always like to open with a banger so I get the managers attention, then surprise him with a track he wouldn’t expect, but has a slightly lower energy to it, so he can get thinking. Drive along and end with a real smash of energy so that people cheer you up and the manager want’s to kiss you (hehe joking).
But the best advice: Do not panic whatever happens and be yourself!

P.S. Do not worry, this is after all the DJ Booth and the Booth is where you will audition 😉

    Very nice website guys.
I have to say I have a pretty static site: http://www.terry-42.com
as I do most of my stuff on facebook nowadays… but it is good to have an entry point, as I still have the website on my business cards.

Thanks guys and thanks to Phil for his confidence in me.
I will do my best to help you guys out even more. It is my main goal to keep the high standard that I think this forum has, thanks to Phil’s vision. Growing rapidly can be challenging in this regard, but I am sure if we all pull together we can create the best digital dj forum there is.

Get a cheap audio software (or freeware). I started with Garage Band on my Mac, since it was free. There are also a lot of loops already in there to give you an idea.
If I wanted to make a loop from a track or captured stuff through a mike etc. I simple drag the mp3 into Garage Band and start cutting around on it.
You can also search for some easy tutorials on youtube search for “editing songs in garage band” to get the basic idea.

Hope that helps, if you have further questions along the road, feel free to ask. Also tell us where you ended up (I play currently with Ableton… but not the easiest software to begin with…)

Welcome aboard Spikey. Seems like you have quite a history, I would love to hear some stories, also about the szene in India, as it is sadly one of the few countries I could not visit yet.

    Hey, welcome 🙂
You have quite a nice story yourself I have to say. Loved reading it, keep it up, it is such cool stories that contribute a lot to other youngsters learning the kinks and bumps along the road, but also the shiny cool stories that us “old guys” have 😉

For mixing and if you are on a budget the M-Audio AV 40 is a good speaker. It is not really total flat response, so I would not take it for producing, but for mixing and playing in the bedroom they are pretty good and more value than some speakers that cost twice as much.
If you want to get more serious the KRK Rockit line are still kinda cheap for monitors, but their response is really good and I like their punch. I have the Rockit 6 myself and also use them for production.
You can of course also invest even more and go for some Adams or the like, yes there is still a difference etc.
Like Steelo said, you get what you pay for, but there are some cheaper speakers that still deliver decent tone.

Just let iTunes do the work on organizing, mixed in key will generate key tags and that’s about it. No need to worry about things, where people much more into this topic already thought about a solution that is so easy to use.

That does not depend on the NS6 alone, which theoretically has 2 OUT connectors to connect to a PA. It depends on the speaker system. Many active systems have a “Master-Slave” connection. In many setups with a sub you plug both outs of the NS6 into the sub and then have cables from the sub go to the main speakers. Many of the main speaker systems also have a “signal through” option where you can stack more speakers onto each others.
Last big event I played we had about 15 main speakers daisy chained together in a stack.
So the answer is: It depends and in theory A LOT.
