KeymasterI am still DJing with a 2008 sometimes… those things really last…

KeymasterFirst off: Itch does only work with Itch certified hardware, period. The hardware manufacturer pays a license fee to serato for itch to work.
The limitations are quite simple: Only 2 Decks, less effects, less samplers and what you can do with them, less hotcues, different style, less options and tuning, different beatsyncing (both work) and some fancy features are missing. No expansion capabilities. For a full list I would check out the webpage of serato and look at both product specs.

KeymasterAs I understand it the CDJ 400 will only work with timecode, so you still would need a Traktor Scratch certified hardware and timecode CDs to work. But I am not a Traktor expert and this is just how I read it on the NI webpage.

KeymasterThe Terminal Mix 2 does come with Serato DJ Intro! This is not Itch and it does not work with Itch!
However yes at this price point the Terminal Mix 2 is a good controller, but it does not come with the software you desire. On the other hand we do not know yet what Serato has in store, as we suspect a new release is imminent.

Keymastercool from your other posts I suspect you are starting out with this gear.
So I would advise: Go for the 380 and let it sit a while. Learn all the kinks of the 380 (it already has pads that can do A LOT with sample triggers…) and you already have samplers etc. in Itch. When you still feel the need to expand beyond the 380, then buy at the time “when you REALLY need it” it will be some time until then and possibly we will be seeing some new launchpads, etc. at the time that are cheaper or have more features or whatever…

KeymasterI would go straight for the bundle with the vinyls and CDs then. You save a load of money.

KeymasterJust watched it on youtube… 90% of the set he uses:
– the laptops keyboard!
– the keyboard in front of him on the picture
– the launchpad style thing to the right of the keyboard
– I think he used the CDJ once for the jog, so I supposed it is hooked up via midi
– the pioneer thing is a effect thing and no controllerTerry_42
KeymasterNo you cannot route sound this way.
Terry_42
KeymasterI would not, because I like the traditional style of DJing, just with digital gear.
Ableton can do that, but it was never intended to do that.
Ableton has a totally different workflow (or intended workflows) when DJing live. I think I might try that sometime, but I do not think that this workflow would work with any usual controller and I probably would go for launchpad or midi fighters. The usual suspect DJ softwares rather cater to the traditional style and I can still have ableton running in the back to trigger stuff with my TouchOSC.

KeymasterAh I have no idea I am on a mac and for broadcasting use the built in broadcaster in VDJ Pro.

KeymasterI broadened my horizon A LOT by:
– Internet Radio (Tunemark Radio)
– Spotify
– iTunes radio stationsTerry_42
KeymasterVery good and do not be too frustrated about the drug thing, it was not your fault. Drugs are bad and you should not feel bad when bad people do bad stuff.
