KeymasterThe problem with recording sets is, that most times in clubs etc. you will have low lights and hence very very bad image quality with action cams. Action cams, while some have decent low light specs, have been made for the outdoors primarily. Even indoors in your bedroom while DJing in artificial light, they are less than stellar, even the Hero 4 line.
Next comes audio.
Most VLoggers use external mics with their action cams and rightfully so. But still it is OK for speaking into the mic, but music it is not OK.This is actually why a traditional camcorder with good low light specs and a good mic is doing a better job at this. They are easier to setup on a tripod have excellent external connectors etc.
These reasons are why I went with a semi-pro grade Sony camcorder rather than an action cam (which I also own, but use for outdoor action…).Terry_42
KeymasterYes and yes it is as bad as you think.

KeymasterIt is the rubish with a former good brand name now…

KeymasterNo all is fine, anyone can press that button, I took care of it.

KeymasterThat should be plenty OK then. You did the right thing going for Intel though, if you use Windows PCs always use Intel for DJing as DJ software has problems with AMD.

KeymasterAlso do not forget the Denon MC2000, as it has the highest build quality of them all.
I would only go for the S2 if you like Traktor.
The Mixtrack Pro 3 and the SB2 fill pretty much the same spot, so not much difference there except for details.
At this time I have not checked the DDJ-RB in person, so I cannot comment on the quality, but I personally prefer Serato over Rekordbox DJ, so I am a bit biased against the unit.Terry_42
KeymasterYes rubish is still rubish even if you give it a new name…

KeymasterIndeed get something to give it shade. I got a 14 bucks display shade from gearbest…

KeymasterHi there,
Thanks for sharing your story with us and welcome to the forums!
Enjoy your stay and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask 🙂Terry_42
KeymasterPeter that process will take ages for him as he has such a large collection.
My pick would be a tool for doing so.
There is a tool called Gemini on the MacAppstore that comes highly recommended for that purpose, costs 10 bucks. Also iTunes has a “show duplicate items” function int the “view” menu which will get many of those files, as it is based on mp3 tags and not the filename.
You might want to try that.

KeymasterThanks for clarifying Oddity this is what I meant. Yes you can download mappings for many controllers and it will work basically with video, but to go beyond what Serato Video offers you definitly need to learn scripting and do your own maps… but then it is an extremely powerful tool.
Terry_42
KeymasterThat is strange, then I would suggest you contact Pioneer support, as there seems to be something wrong here.

KeymasterWell I have no experience with Rekordbox, since it is very new. However it seems similar to Serato Video, with a few things still missing (which I guess they will release very soon).
However Serato Video: Very easy to use and maps nicely to any controller supporting it. I even tested with an old DDJ-Ergo and it got the job done. The whole experience is very intuitive, but it also has its limits when it comes to special effects etc.
VDJ is by far the most features for video, but no controller supports it. So basically you should be OK to learn a scripting language from their tutorials and get it to work. So it has a steep learning curve, but of course the possibilities are endless and I have seen things done with it that no other VJ has done. So it is by far the most feature packed software, but you need to custom tune it, if you do not have the abilities to do so it will stink in comparison to the others.
As for controller, honestly my favourite controller by far (no matter if video or music only) is currently the Denon MCX8000. Serato wise it outshines (for me) all Pioneer controllers, but of course this also depends on your workflow.

KeymasterNot until you tell us: What DJ software, how are your audio settings in software and OS, what MacOS version, what Macbook,…
Give us a little more and we might be able to help.

KeymasterPlease read the manual that came with the unit, it is all clearly layed out there.
