KeymasterYes they could. I did not try Serato Remote but TouchOSC. However my problem was the lack of tactile feedback in a dark DJ booth, the constant glow of the iPads screen overwhelming the glow of the controller knobs and the capacitive input sometimes misfiring. So while it does work if you want to try it and maybe for you it will work, for me it did not, as it takes practice to learn Slicer and especially Flip to pull of cool things and I need to be able to do it blindfolded and fast or -> trainwreck the show.

KeymasterI agree here the MC2000 has the best build quality in any entry controller.
That said you prolly will not be on the road 24/7 with it at start. The reloop and numark actually have a little better faders (in my opinion, a lot in faders is personal preference) than the cheap Pioneers. This turns around in more expensive controllers, but at that price range this is what I feel. Also the beatmix has actual gain controls, which is a plus in my book. Everything else they are all pretty close.Terry_42
KeymasterYes I think the Neon can compliment any controller.
I even still use it with the MCX8000 as it gives you an extra set of performance pads to work with. That looks like strong wear on the faders. I actually would not have used the alcohol as it tends to creep into fader housings and de-grease the internals which can be not so good. You might want to remove the lube and try to spray in a little WD40 first then re-apply the lube. That could make it a little better. After spraying the WD40 leave the unit dry out for 24 hours before applying lube or anything.

KeymasterI think the problem here is the NS6 not Serato per se.
The NS6 is very dated and does not enable the easy use of all Serato features (like Flip, Toneplay,… or even Slicer). If you are unsure about those Serato Features a minor investment would be to addon a reloop Neon, which enables you to use those features.
Of course Traktor has a different approach with Stems and Remix Decks. It caters more to the “preparation” crowd. As you have to have Remix Sets or Stems prepared to rock them on stage. So a lot is done prior to the gig.
Serato caters more to the “on the fly” crowd as all tools like Slicer, Flip, Sampler or TonePlay, SliceLooper etc. can be used to modify the track on the fly. However this takes a lot more practice to pull off. So the time you spare at preparation of tracks you prolly invest in training these skills, as the usage of those highend Serato tools is much more intense and needs fast reactions on stage. So if the Traktor way is more of your thing I would rather save money and go for an S8.
If you want to try the Serato way, look into the reloop Neon to try that out.Terry_42
KeymasterAnd as always Vintage is spot on and very right.
You wasted good money on outdated tech and want even more outdated tech to drive that now.
Big mistake.
Next time come and ask us first before buying such rubbish.
If you have any further questions about something not ancient, please open a new topic as this one… all is said and hence is closed.Terry_42
KeymasterMoving away from controllers is a mistake. Save your money.
Everything below a complete Nexus setup is a waste of time and even a full Nexus2 setup can do less than your S4.Check out this article:
http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/5-reasons-why-i-went-back-to-controllers-from-cdjs/So unless you have like 8000 bucks lying around and money is a non-issue. Save your money. Get an S8 or something that you can truely be creative on.
We will not advise you on CDJs here as it is nonsense. Topic closed.Terry_42
KeymasterWell from a simple Mixtrack Pro (or now Platinum) up all Numarks do a good job with Serato.
Also do not underestimate the reloop Serato controllers.
As for Pioneer I would go for the more standard controllers like DDJ-SR or SX (you can get bargain prices on the first SX as the SX2 is out and IMHO not much better). Those work nicely with Serato too.
I would not yet go for a Rekordbox DJ only Pioneer, as Rekordbox is OK but not as stable as the late Serato. I am sure it will get there soon, but it just aint the time yet.Terry_42
KeymasterI whole heartedly agree with Vintage.
Your best bet is to go into a good controller and learn from there.Terry_42
Keymasterhaha awesome!

KeymasterI have the MCX8000 now for about a month. I have to say I really really love the unit. In my humble opinion it is the best build quality I have ever seen in a DJ controller. It outclasses even the MC6000 or any competition brand. As even in the higher end Pioneers the XLRs are not case mounted, in the MCX they are. It feels like a tank and some things that are prone to “work off” like crossfader are user replacable.
There is nothing on this unit that does not feel high class or does not work as advertised.
I am really impressed with flexibility too, for example playing something from a deck, pal brings me USB stick from a promoter I quickly load it in, play his promo from USB and then switch back to Serato. Absolutely flawless no noisy things or anything.
No matter which outputs you use it is crips clear sound quality.
Of course it is big and on the heavier side, but that are the only things I can think off.It gets two thumbs up from me and I can recommend the unit to anyone.
I primarily however use it with Serato, I only used a USB stick once or twice to test the whole procedure for backup reasons.
I also think the unit is focused on Serato more than standalone work, even though it outclasses the XDJ series by far on standalone features.I will make a short video this week about the MCX which you can then check out.

KeymasterNice thanks for the feedback!

KeymasterI can only agree with D-Jam, dress for the occasion. I do a lot of company events lately and I always try to get one of their merchandise shirts or something and then depending on the company dress pants or jeans, sometimes even a jacket over the company shirt.

KeymasterHey and welcome.
Nice story and you are on the right track.Terry_42
KeymasterWell first thought:
If you get an error during firmware update, most of the time that is really really bad… and things stop working. So you might be in a bad situation here, since you cannot get any support to have this issue resolved.Second thought:
Why VDJ? There are tons of Serato controllers out there that are extremely nice from Numark, reloop, Denon, Pioneer,… and all are better than the aged 300.Terry_42
KeymasterAs far as I know they do not exist, especially for current patchlevels of Windows.
