KeymasterNice summing up Carlos, I tend to agree with your summary.
Also I have lately given the Surface Pro 4 a run with Serato on my MCX8000 and it works actually quite nicely (also i7 with 8GB and 512 SSD). I still prefer the screen real estate on my 15” MacBook but Windows 10 seems to work better and better with every update.Terry_42
KeymasterSorry we are digitaldjtips and hence cannot make recommendations on outdated products.
You kinda summed it up yourself and there is no better, you have to make up your mind on your own on that old stuff.Terry_42
KeymasterIf you really want to downgrade from the MC3000 then the DJM 900 Nexus2 is the only one. However for that price you prolly would get an MCX8000.

KeymasterTHe DDJ RX is not standalone.

KeymasterSorry never heard of it.
The DAWs I have used and can recommend are Logic, Ableton, Bitwig and FL Studio. All have trial versions, so you should test them out and see what fits you best.Terry_42
KeymasterOddity said it perfectly I have to say.
You might want to fix your computer problem and stay with the S8 if that is comfy for you. No rush to learn something new.September 5, 2016 at 9:06 am in reply to: I want to buy a turntable setup for home use to learn turntablism with timecode #2440781Terry_42

KeymasterFirst choose your software.
Since accurate beatgridding seems important to you, also on tracks that can be “off” your choices are limited to Serato and Rekordbox, whereas I find Serato a little more intuitive. Other options would include Cross or VDJ, but they have a steeper learning curve with those controllers and DVS.Now that we have that out of the way I guess you will want to go Serato or Rekordbox.
They are both very close competitors and look really similar, so either will work for most people. I prefer Serato solely because of Flip and TonePlay which Rekordbox does not have, but those are more expert features.Nevertheless from the controllers you then are into the Pioneer RX or SX2 which both have standalone mixer capabilities and also support DVS. Controllers you did not mention that also can do this are the Denon MCX8000 (which is what I use) the DDJ-SZ and those are the ones from the top of my hat.
None of those support iPads. However if you daughter is just wanting to play around a bit, you can get something like an old DDJ-WeGo, reloop Beatpad etc. in the used market very cheap (100 bucks or less) and she can use djay on the ipad which is great fun.

KeymasterThat is actually uncorrect in most clubs you will only find RCA to connect to the house or PA mixer and for home studio use RCA is also fine and you can spare the DJ mixer. Also there is nothing inherit cheap about RCA, it depends on the manufacturer and you can also get cheap XLR in a 50 bucks Chinacontroller that sounds way worse… but what do I know I have only DJed for 25 years, so you might have more experience than me 🙂
Nonetheless if your heart is set on the A6 by all means go for it however the Turntables you posted are utterly bad. Honestly the RP-7000 is as low as I would go that is why I recommended the AMX, save money on the mixer side go for a full solution and invest in good turntables.
Now turntablism is a lot about hip-hop and hip-hop (even high class produced) is not always beat correct (aka BPM will vary slightly through the song), this is why we recommend Serato as it has a so called flexible beatgrid. Traktor only has a hard beatgrid and will not do so well with these kinds of music, but whatever your mind is set on.
However you still will need somekind of controller with Traktor if you want to use some features and not always click on your laptop to load things (which looks kinda unprofessional) so one of the NI addon controllers will still be needed.

KeymasterHonestly there is a reason why most DVS players use Serato. It is just plain better at it and you do not need a Rane mixer to use Serato DVS.
The minimum Setup for Serato DVS would be:
1x Akai AMX 200 bucks
Serato DVS upgrade license 60 bucks
4x Serato Control vinyl (about 10 bucks a piece)
(Optional Akai AFX, you can add that later it costs about 160)Turntables: 2x reloop RP-7000
This is the minimum setup that makes sense.
However be aware that DVS has an upkeep cost and maintenance that needs to be done. So you should be a little techy or it will cost you.
This includes:
New needles (and lots of them)
Control vinyl (they get worse over time and need replacing)
slipmats (they wear out)
Heads (they wear out after a few needle replacements)
Mechanical maintenance of the direct drive and cleaningIf you use the DVS 3-5 times a week for longer periods of time this can easily accumulate to 50-100 bucks a month.
