KeymasterWe are in the digital age. There is no using this forum without a computer and there is no pro DJing in a club without a laptop (at least in clubs that are not province dumps).
Get our free controller guide, check that out and have fun with it.

KeymasterIndeed what you are saying makes ZERO sense I am sorry.
Nobody is playing standalone anymore, even those using Nexus players use them with a laptop either with Traktor or Serato.
If you would like the RZ, but you do not like Serato? Newsflash Rekordbox is a 1:1 copy of Serato sans a few features, if Rekordbox is OK with you, then so should be Serato as they are virtually the same in the main features and how they look on screen (hell until I wanted to use flip I once played half a gig on Rekordbox until I realised I was not on Serato). If you are on a budget it is even more important to invest you money wisely and there is no CDJ option other than Nexus2 gear that is even close to a controller+laptop setup. And while a Nexus2 setup will do it is about 5000 bucks for the full setup and you can do LESS than with a DDJ-RX or SX.
If you are on such a tight budget you can even go with a DDJ-SX (first version) and still have plenty of headroom for development. The purchase of a CDJ setup at this time makes ZERO sense.
If that controllers I listed do not satisfy you, there are controllers from Numark, Native INstruments, Akai, reloop,… that are all pro-grade stuff.Terry_42
KeymasterBoth very solid competitors, I like the layout of the mixtrack a bit more, but that is personal preference. You really cannot go wrong with both.
However you may also look for post-holiday discounts. I have seen some places discount the reloop Terminal Mix 8 and Numark NV to almost 400 bucks, which seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.Terry_42
KeymasterTo my knowledge it does not have loop roll, only loop slice.

KeymasterFor 1200 bucks you could get a Denon MCX8000 and outclass this setup by around 400%.
For 800 bucks you can get a Pioneer DDJ-SX2 (still loads better than the crap non Nexus players) and go on vacation with the money you just saved. Is it a good offer: No. It is that cheap, because people catch on that non Nexus gear is near worthless when compared to controllers and even Nexus 2 gear is just a glorified controller that can use CDs and has less features than a DDJ-SZ.
Hence even on Nexus gear used prices will start free fall once people are no longer following the “you need CDJs to be Pro” bandwagon and realise no pro uses them anymore unless they get payed for it.You are welcome 🙂

KeymasterI think you are overdoing it.
I simply have 3 categories: Bangers (that fill the dancefloor 100% proven) – Energy (almost bangers) and fillers. When I prepare an event I know which genre(s) I want sort that 3 categories into genres and pick my playlists from there. Done.
If this does not work, then you prolly have too many songs in your collection.

KeymasterYou cannot record via a headphone jack… this is an output jack not an input.

KeymasterHey and welcome! Well you surely have come to the right place, look around and let us know if you have any questions we can help you with 🙂

KeymasterI am sorry but I do not understand. Maybe you can ask someone to translate for you?
Terry_42
KeymasterSure it will. Do not get me wrong I like the feel of vinyl and operating it is somehow cool.
The only thing bothering my is the steep upkeep costs. Do not get me wrong I can afford them easily with the money from gigs, but I always think “that would be some pretty neat party cash that I just spent on needles and control vinyl…”Terry_42
KeymasterYes we may live in different places, however I have DJed around the world including up scale places in the US, Spain and Britain but also in “low tech” places like the Phillipines, China (yes Club wise its low tech) and Haiti.
All you need to do is educate people and managers, be professional about it and show them that any controller is better than timecode. If any manager wants me to DJ with timecode I charge 50% extra, because plainly put: It sucks and I do not want to limit my creative freedom.
This way I have converted several managers to think differently, even some that have 8000 bucks Nexus 2 CDJs in their booths and said I am an idiot before, thanked my for the education after my set blew the roof off and the DJ before me playing on the Nexus crap emptied the dancefloor every 2nd track. If you just bend to their will, you will never make it in the DJ industry, you either follow the rules of success or you become frustrated sooner or later.
These rules are very simple:
– Trust yourself and that your way works, do not bend
– Break the rules (not the law) break the rules of DJing how they want you to
– Don’t be afraid to fail – every time you fail you push forward if you follow the above
– Ignore the naysayers the managers that tell you, you cannot do it that way
– Work like hell, if you want to succeed you need to work your butt off, if you do not somebody else will
– Give something back (like I try to do here)Terry_42
