KeymasterJust plug your controller in the DJM-900?
Terry_42
KeymasterJust do not play any request and be done with it. Most of the time a very polite sorry I do not have that track, will help.
And playing spotify songs at a gig is still illegal…

KeymasterThe key to manual beatgridding in Serato is not starting totally new if you can.
So if the software detects something you will have the lines, just not in correct places.
Hit the “Edit” button and move the first beatmarker to first beat. If the rest does not line up the tempo is incorrect so stretch or narrow the beatgrid with the +/- buttons until second and third beat line up.
90% of the time you are done unless you have really old disco or really manually high Snoop Dog songs (love Snoop Dog but some HipHop is just impossible to beatgrid).Terry_42
KeymasterTodd nailed it, I too had a 400 and it was an awesome controller. But I needed to move on, as I need something with support and even now on my MacBook I am fine, but on the Surface Pro the VCI-400 drivers crash the system.
So this really does not look that good…Terry_42
KeymasterHaving DJed in most places around the world I can say this is illegal in all of them, except maybe Cuba 😛
I never DJed in North Korea though hehe to much risk to get shot if you play a wrong song hrhrTerry_42
KeymasterTodd is absolutely right, but I also always check for an escalation process.
For example I would have played a nice 90s mega mix 15min song, walk to find the planner AND the groom, explain the situation and that I am playing the 80s and 90s stuff by request and if I should alter the path. I would also make it clear that the party that pays me had final say.
No bloody refunds. I have seen cases where they actually did that as a trap to get money back from DJs…Terry_42
KeymasterThat argument is invalid, sorry.
You are broadcasting on an international plattform without the rights to do so, hence you are not on thin ice, you are working in an illegal environment. If you get too much followers the justice system will pursue you, find you and there will be hefty consequences. It has happened on Facebook a lot, that people got into thousands of dollars of fines alone, not counting possible lawsuits from rights holders.
The whole thing is not about giving credit, it is about money.Since this forum rules clearly state we cannot and will never encourage illegal behaviour and advise you strongly not to take any illedal action, this thread is closed.

KeymasterI would recommend checking out our article on the subject at the main site and getting our free controller guide.
However our recommendations for first controller are:
– Numark Mixtrack Pro Series
– Pioneer SB2
– Denon MC Series
– reloop BeatpadsThese are the entry controllers that we think work best.

KeymasterI am 43… I get gigs. OK I have DJed for 25+ years now.
However I have a pal that started when he was 47 (he is now 53) and he gets gigs. So if you love what you do: WHY THE HELL NOT!July 7, 2017 at 8:33 am in reply to: Returning DJ from the Netherlands, always ready to share and learn #2584561Terry_42
KeymasterHey and welcome!
Terry_42
KeymasterBut but but WE LIKE SHORTCUTS 😛 hehe
Terry_42
KeymasterThis sounds very much like a driver problem with your PC and not the fault of the controller.
Your PC, while low specced, should be able to do at least basic things in Serato, however old laptops also have the problem that usually a lot of stuff is installed on them that clutters the drivers.
So my guess is you should do a clean install, only install the absolutely necessary drivers for the laptop and then install the Numark drivers.
Also read the manual carefully, even with the Numark drivers installed you still may need an additional ASIO driver.Alternatively if your laptop is certified I usually recommend Windows 10 for Windows DJs.

KeymasterWell both are OK choices for practice, so I would go with what you like more.
The Pioneer prolly will have slightly better sound, while the Mackies are more versatile. -
