Sorry I messed up the post meant the Yamaha DXR12, not a DAP. At this point think I will be purchasing at least the Yamaha DXR12 or the QSC k12 and have a good quality pair of tops if I am not mistaken. Also was going to buy a Behringer XENYX 802 Small Format Mixer to be able to plug in an ipad for backup if needed. My main deliberation is should I buy a pair of DXR12 on clearance off the demo shelf for only $450 each without a return policy but have the 7 year yamaha warenty in case something happens at a steal of a price, or the $800 a pair full price k12’s. Figure will rent the qsc kw181 when needed for now.

Was going to go in tomorrow and order the DXR12’s just hesitant as they were demo versions, but at that price…

Thank you for the detailed analysis and information. Would the DRX-12, DRX-15, K12 all be sub-par gear at this point?

Thanks for your responses. I tried it different ways again, to see which I would prefer, and came to a conclusion for me at this point anyways.

Seems, just using 1 ear while listening to the main music in the room is better to beatmatch, then split cue as you don’t get the full effect somehow having both coming separate while split cueing.

Likewise, it’s easier to tell if the songs mesh really well when having both channels coming through your headphones and wearing them completely. So figure at this point I will just use 1 ear method when beatmatching manually or letting a track run. Putting on the headphones completely while mixing tracks on top of each other to make sure nothing is clashing before bringing it in.

    Hey Shaun 🙂

Saw your post after posting mine and checked out the commercial-chart-remixes-and-house-halloween-special-2k13-mixed-by-dj-shaun-pearcey/. Really liked a lot of the songs, and really flowed really well. Even found a few songs I didn’t know about like “The Spark” by afrojack which I will have to add to my own library now.

That being said, I always try to at least give one thing I personally felt was off a little, even if it was just for me. I would say the song choices were pretty varied and didn’t really fit overall together. Had a lot of everything in there, but that could just be me.

Oh, also really liked how you pulled in tid bits to tease of songs to come like earthquake in Booyah.

Liked it, and good transitions. Really liked the build up around 42:40’sh though felt it lacked something that it was building up to. Though I don’t really listen to trance so might just be me. Great Job!
