MemberThe S4 doesn’t work with usb 3.0 so I’d wait for news from Native Instruments, If it will work with a firmware update then I can’t see them updating it anytime soon.
FYI – the VCI-400 has a crossfader and it’s replaceable with an innofader.
Also not sure why you would need a midi in, everything that is currently on the market uses usb.

MemberUnfortunately I can’t help as it’s defined in VDJ with HID protocol, I can say that all buttons are on their own byte with no duplicates. Your probably better off contacting Gemini support directly as it may be a bug that requires a firmware update.
You could also use midi-ox to get the raw midi data to see if the duplicate messages are on separate channels. Or run it through a HID-midi converter middleware program before reaching traktor.

MemberYes you can run timecodes through the hercules mk4 soundcard.
You will need some timecode vinyl, I use serato CV02 with VDJ Pro, but traktor mk1, numark virtual vinyl (vdj), ms pinky*, mixvibes*, pcdj* are all supported as well as generic 1000hz and 2000hz settings.
*Note – I have never heard of anyone using the last three successfully and tried torq on version 6.03 with no success, haven’t tried since, so best to stick with the first three.
then plug the turntables outputs into the hercules inputs and ground them on the the ground metal knob. Finally make sure you change the input type selectors to “phono”
Now the hardware is sorted go into vdj’s config and choose inputs as “timecode” and you will then be able to use the vinyl to control vdj’s transport.
If you want detailed instructs consult the “audio setup guide pdf” in the VirtualDJ folder of your computer.
Don’t expect good performance from the turntables belt drive ones are absolutely terrible for mixing.

Memberthe same applies, the N4 and S4 are about the same build quality, the selling point is the HID jogs. I still think the 4track is better, it has the same jog HID protocol from what I have read so should be a solid performer in traktor.
The S4 doesn’t work in itch, but has been mapped to VDJ in midi mode, but unfortunately Native Instruments don’t make all the buttons available for mapping in midi.

MemberN4 has 4 knobs & buttons for effects, the NS6 has 1 slider and an endless encoder, however the ns6 is much better build quality. both work with VDJ natively, but only the NS6 works with itch although the N4 works with intro. When all is said and done I say you should get the Reloop terminal4mix, it’s a happy medium between both controllers, it has the feature set of the N4 but a build quality closer to the NS6. There was a great review by Phil on the blog recently.
If you want to use traktor get a Numark 4track, however this will not be useable in itch and probably won’t be natively mapped to VDJ as native instruments usually don’t allow it, doesn’t mean users can’t map it though.

Memberyep I know the best code, just enter the numbers from the front of your credit card here, it unlocks the whole program, you can use video, vst, multiple controllers, timecode, advanced audio routing, full mapping capabilities, sample’s, dmx, skins, effects etc…

MemberAny function for a controller is all software, the benifit is you can upgrade your software easily, the negative is hardware companies want you to also update your controller often so they don’t make them as strong as traditional gear. You need to weigh up what is better for you.

Membera midi controller has less parts as it has only a midi brain and a bunch of knobs/sliders/leds/buttons and sometimes soundcards… modern media players have all that plus hardware to decode and play music from cd/usb/flash drives, they are generally bigger and have a lot more R & D which ends up in the final pricing.
But you should also realize that nothing in this world is priced on it’s real value of parts and labor, the price is determined by what people think they could get for something, but usually the people with the least invested and the most to gain are the stores that sell them, that’s why you can always get a discount on professional items like cdj’s and mixers…
But midi controllers are there for consumers so already incredibly cheap in comparison. The problem is they are not built to last like an allen & heath mixer, cdj2000’s or technics 1200’s. so yes you could spend about $4000 on professional gear that will last a lot of years or you could buy 5 or 6 controllers for about that much to last the same amount of time. plus you need to buy a laptop or two & dj software upgrades if using traktor.
In the long run if your serious about djing as a career after getting your feet wet with controllers your better off investing in the professional gear that you will use in clubs.

Memberthe fashion conscious crowd won’t like if for much longer as something new like moombahcore will take over as it’s a friendlier sound than brostep being half dutch half wobble. but I think the underground will always remain as it’s a very distinctive sound and feeling behind the deeper stuff, but brostep will go the way of hardstyle which was once a melting pot of creativity and was fairly experimental now it’s just the same patterns in every track with slightly different sounds, it’s become a formula.
Every music fad has a time limit as after a while it all sounds the same because everything influences everything else and money and fame push people further down the same road which limits their creativity.

Memberand do they show up in the browser of vdj ?…. cool

Memberdj software is made to be performed live with… vdj8 will have a timeline function similar to mixmiester but that won’t be out for a while yet… If you don’t want to mix live I’d say your best bet is to get the dedicated mixmiester controller as that’s what it’s built for.

other then that if you stick with MM just get any old midi controller as the S2 doesn’t play nice when mapping to other software… Try and import something if you can, china is close and incredibly cheap, all you have to do is request a sample from the manufacturer saying you are looking at starting a business relationship importing midi controllers… blah blah blah…
