Better start scouring eBay for bargins… look for Super OEM tables “google it for all the different brands” or Numark tt200,500, I can’t really recommend any cheap mixers for audio, but the stanton SA-3 is a solid little scratch mixer, or any two channel vestax or pre 2002 numark or stanton scratch mixer. I would forget about the midifighter as it will only work with traktor and your budget doesn’t allow it so the money would be better used on hardware.

You should contact Native Instruments to confirm then as it may have changed with version 2.5… I use VDJ Pro.

It depends if you mean just the soundcard and software… or for the table’s, mixer, soundcard and software… if it’s for the latter you need to grow your budget to at least $1000 for a decent setup without making too many compromises accept on brands and age… and is it primarily for turntablism or mixing?

yep… It has to be Traktor Scratch Pro to use timecode.

Mixxx and a used Maya-44 soundcard… your turntables, mixer and timecode of choice. It is by no means a good quality setup but it will get the job done for about $100.

Mixxx is the cheapest being free, then Mixvibes or Torq 2.0, VDJ Pro is pretty expensive as the software is around $300 but you can use any soundcard to cut down on cost or you can get the hercules bundle for around $400. Traktor scratch & Serato are the most expensive as you need to purchase their specific soundcard to use the program. eBay is always cheap though…

you can use normal vinyl through the mixer but you can’t use timecodes with an audio 2, you require an audio 4 or higher as you need 4 mono inputs as well as 4 mono outputs to use an analog mixer.

^that’s not exactly true… the denon can operate as a standalone analogue mixer so if your computer crashes you could plug in cd players/turntables or even an iphone/ipad to keep the music going while you reboot your laptop.

I wouldn’t buy a pioneer controller as they don’t feel great to use, your better off with a reloop terminal 4, NS6/4track or VCI-400

You can already do it in djdecks so there is a strong possibility of it being possible in VDJ8.

I wouldn’t use a djx700 again if you paid me. If I were you I’d look into a used xone:22, djm707 or djm400, The numark mixers are pretty poor quality comparatively and vestax only really shine when it comes to turntablism as they use high quality P&G faders but the eq doesn’t sound as good imo. The xone definitely has the best sound out of them but it looks a little weird though.

you just need to know how to beatmatch as there is no sync on cdj’s, to train don’t use sync and don’t look at the waveforms… If you have VDJ Pro you can download a different skin that hides the waveforms for practice, or you can use timecode with the older generation of cdj’s, or HID with the newer ones.

It said on the reloop site press release for the terminal 4 that the slicer will be available with a future update, I read it just after it was announced.

this is what it currently says

or with future software updates this section can be enhanced even further with brand new performance modes (Cut’n’Slice) for live remixing.

don’t really use loops accept for when running out of time to mix or fixing up the positioning of a track if I started it in the wrong spot… Although there is nothing better than breaking out the EFX-1000 for a feedback loop when mixing minimal or progressive.

Unfortunately not, the scs.4dj doesn’t actually have a soundcard that you can use with software so you will need to buy a separate one.
