if you are using traktor you should “jack” it into a DAW and use the free vst “quad byte filter”. The resonance is selectable and actually sounds good (amazing) and it’s not tinny at all, and the lfo is stupidly powerful letting you choose the speed, shape, phase, size, start and end of the oscillation… like I said stupidly powerful.

There is always VDJ Pro & Torq which host vst’s natively.

you need to show examples of the garments fitting, It was only through clicking on a random link that I could see you print on american apparel t-shirts, and the only reason I clicked on it was to provide feedback so most probably wouldn’t bother and that might cost you a sale.

I also think you should show only 16 – 20 designs from your latest range as there is a clear difference in the quality of your designs so these should be in their own legacy category, you could say something like “check out our older designs – we would be happy to print these on request” because honestly if I were looking I wouldn’t go past the third page.

There is not much point in having guys and girls t-shirts, hoodies etc… as all of the designs are duplicated, although it does look better having more content categories on your web page but you need to change the content of the pages eg using a header with models wearing the hoodies on the hoodie page, and models wearing the t-shirts on the t-shirt page and try to create a girls and guys range that are more gender focused with some crossover unisex designs.

Finally you need to talk about the print quality and the expected longevity of the image, if you use the same paint or printing techniques as a major brand say it so people can have some faith in your product. The biggest problems with buying clothes online is the t-shirt is not pre-shrunk and shrinks after the first wash, or the image fades and starts peeling after 3 or 4 washes. For these reasons I no longer buy stuff online unless it is recommended from a reliable source…

    Hope that helps 😉

you can just use a couple of 1/4 inch to rca adapters, they’re only a couple of dollars on eBay.

reloop terminal 4 mix is the only one that ticks all the boxes, it has 8 buttons you could map to cues/samples/effects ect… there is 4 absolute knobs for effects, full eq and seperate filter. the jogs and most importantly the crossfader are scratchable. If the VCI-400 had a scratchable loose crossfader I’d say that’s the best option.

You should note that in traktor you can’t scratch on any controllers other than the S2, S4 or 4trak. And you can’t map in serato intro or itch. You can do it all in VDJ Pro… you could even run timecode to add a record deck.

There was a great review of the tm4 by phil a few weeks ago on the blog.

hip hop back in the day before bpm counters as there is a very wide range of bpm’s from 70 – 120bpm. but grindcore/hardcore is the hardest to mix because it’s really hard to listen to for longer than 10 minutes at a time LOL! everything is easy enough, if you love dnb it’s easy to mix but techno is hard.. likewise if you like techno, dnb is hard… it is subjective for everyone in the beginning but after a couple of years, everything is relatively easy.

if you like psytrance check out skazi and infected mushroom for some inspiration. with modern software technology you could get a foot controller and play tracks with your feet

And if you use Ableton, VDJ Pro or Torq you could use native instruments guitar rig vst to fatten up your guitar sound from within your dj program, this would also mean you could record a loop to mess with live.

I completely agree, but the downloadable ones are great, and vst’s fill in any gaps on pc, but it is very sparse on mac… Hopefully the reason it’s taking so long to release VDJ8 is making vst’s work on mac to make the two OS’s equally supported.

Use them when you understand what the effect is doing to the audio signal and think it will add to the song. Don’t use them if you don’t know what you are doing, that mean’s leave the damn flanger alone! and get away from the beatmasher/roll it’s a fill effect not an instrument.

I rarely hear heavy effect use in clubs because if someone abuses the effects they get a tap on the shoulder to settle down a bit or get kicked off the decks, and they don’t get another set.

VDJ LE is terrible! you need VDJ Pro to unlock the controllers full potential. I’m not sure if the ergo works with serato intro but it definitely doesn’t work with itch, and if you want to scratch you can bet it won’t be possible in traktor

in regard to your sound issues it is delayed because the computer has to process and buffer the line in before playing it through the speakers after vdj has played it.

if you upgrade or activate the trial you can use the onboard computer soundcard for the main output. You can also download extra effects to use during the trial from the vdj forum.

The last option aside from getting new speakers is to get an adapter that will connect dual male rca’s to stereo female headphone jack then plug your speakers directly into the ergo, but be careful as they won’t last long as dj monitors in most cases.

Try wrapping the inner shaft with some paper or something like electrical or gaffer tape to make the diameter larger, then squeeze the knobs over the top. As long as you keep the D shape it should work, otherwise just use super/crazy glue… the Numark M series mixers are throw/give away on upgrade anyway.

I’d say ableton is easily the best as syncing, quantizing and warping is at the the very core of the software’s design, plus you get the added bonus of it being an incredibly powerful music production suite to incorporate synth’s and effects.

Next would be mixmiester. It is incredibly easy to extend sections of songs, incorporate automated effects in the timeline, and create mashups using different songs as you get 4 tracks to play with. Mixmiester is great for this type of thing as it has excellent bpm detection and has key detection aswell.

VDJ8 will have a timeline function very similar to mixmiester but i would imagine it will be more powerful at creating automations.

they would need to change a fairly large chunk of the program to make it open to mapping and they would lose the plug and play that serato seem to pride themselves on or they would need to keep it locked but add the extra controllers and roll out a new registration system to existing users. If they do the latter it would not be a good move to release a half done software excluding some of the intro controllers, as consumers are a fickle bunch who lose faith in a product very quickly when there are issues.

you could maybe get a stanton scs1d & scs1m for around that, I have seen the pair go for $500 new a couple of times on eBay in Australia. The deck has the same motor as super OEM’s, It’s a dual layer controller with a motorised pitch fader. The mixer is high quality and the crossfader is replaceable with an innofader although you shouldn’t need to replace it as it’s solid as is.

The major drawback is the looks (I don’t like the two tone), it’s firewire not usb and the traktor intigration of the platters is poor (that’s why it’s cheap). By reports it works perfectly with the current version of VDJ Pro and should be native to VDJ8 as stanton is supposed to re-release the unit with VDJ along with their scs3d system.
