Update! I never really got on with the traktor s4 set up, It seemed to take the fun out of it for me, its amazing what it can do, but i just found it became a ball ache setting up the laptop when i fancied mixin a few tunes. When it was set up the s4 was fun but keep lookin at the laptop wasnt for me. So the s4 is gone and ive just bout me an xdj-aero. I love it!! does everything i need with ease, and ive been able to ditch my old mixer (DDM4000 if anyones interested! 😉 and plug my 1210s into the aero much neater set up!!!

I had the same concerns, was ready to go buy the dx but then found out about the lack of control over the sample decks, i bought a second hand s4 in the end. if your looking around that price range you should find one!

if you want the cdjs to practise on, buy secondhand cdj1000s or 800s, save a fortune so you can also get the macbook and s4, all for under the new price of the cdj2000, when it comes to gear more IS better!! lol!!

Nice one Smitten, picked it up earlier today, to make sure it all gets deregistered correctly, the seller gave me all his log in info for NI so i can do everything myself. It hasnt been upgraded so if it was deregistered i wouldnt be able to get the upgrade, so i will do this before changing the owner details. As for the unit, its in great condition, if i was told it was new i wouldnt know any different, he bought it in june, says its been out the box about five times. Im frickin chuffed to bits, tomorrow im getting me brother to totally restore my laptop, ready for installation, cant wait to get going with this!!!

I havent used either, but what i would be tempted to do is, buy the Twich then if its not for you ebay it, you will lose maximum of 100quid. The numark it twice the price so at least you got a twich to play with while you save up the rest of the cash!!

My point was that 11 or so years after the release of the first CDJ turntables are for from obsolete, and i think you will see the same thing with the CDJ. There will never be an industry standard for controllers, there cant be, there is just far to much choice of units and software. So IMHO your gonna see CDJs in every major nightclub for at least the next 15 years, they are still a viable choice.

I bet there was alot of talk of 1210s becoming obsolete when cdjs came out too…..

Gotta say not telling a fellow dj the name of a tune seems kinda harsh, dont get that at all. If you tell him the name of it then next week he plays it before you play your set then a kick in the nuts is entirely justified.

Cheers mate, think the vestax is gonna be even more than the s4, and I would proberly have to buy updated software for it and MIDI map it which are two things. I’m hoping to avoid, I’m not expert when it comes to lwptops so i really want a plug and play system. Gutted that serato ain’t fully mapped. for the twitch that was a serious contender until i heard that! Don’t mind losing jogwheels to be honest, bit having them is a bonus; looks like an s4 then!!
