Saffire 6 USB doesnt have 6 outs (3 stereo outputs) – it only has four (2 stereo)

I really dont think you can find an audio interface with the specs of Audio 10 with a great difference in price. Add to that the powerful, higher-than-studio-standards output of the NI interfaces and there really is no choice – at least for DJing.

That said, I do use the Saffire 6 USB in my studio – but not in live-DJ gigs.

I’ll be popping in here ‘n’ there to give you “tips”….

    Here’s my first one:

You can name scenes with BPM values – example “124 BPM” – launching this scene will change the project’s BPM to that value!

Whatever you do, do not let your computer-OS perform any hard-disk “clean up” or defragmentation until you find your lost folder. Search for a good “file-recovery” program – I cant suggest any because there have been years when I last used one so I dont know what works nowadays.
If all else fail, unplug your hard disk from your computer and go to computer-freak friend or a shop – 99% of the times the tech freaks working there will have a way to recover most of your lost files.

    Good luck! 😉

I too, as already mentioned, prefer not to assume that “professional” means knowledge, expertise and being good at something. I have met a lot of proffesionals who were crap at their profession and a lot of amateurs who knew much more than professionals.

Therefore, for me, “professional DJ” (in fact in any human activity) is the person who has DJing as the primary source of income. As such, it does imply there is some expertise and knowledge invloved (otherwise the poor fellow would starve to death) but it’s not ALWAYS true!!! 😉

Being primarily a producer it was fairly easy for me to establish my sound first and foremost by playing my own music…This in itself, as one’s music usually has a certain sound and style helped a lot. Usually though, even when playing certain tracks I get comments from friends that some of them are indeed a “signature” of me playing even though I had never considered them that way. To give an example, seconds after playing Ormatie’s “Only” on one of my webradio shows, everyone listening knows its Softcore’s airtime! 😉
I think then, it all boils down to how much you express yourself by the tracks you choose to play. If most of the tracks you choose to mix are really what you like to listen to, then inevitably these will be your “signature” sound.

Never underestimate the “power” of a mediocre track as an intro to one of your “bangers”….In order tog et the audience high you first have to pick them up from “low”…….

I hope it makes sense – I know it does in my native language! 😉

Dude you keep missing my point, don’t ya?

For one, ACTA has nothing to do with DJs playing other people’s music, for two the law says clearly you cant reproduce any copyrighted music if you dont have a license from the copyright holder, and there are about 57849794579475 million ways to have a license to play copyrighted material and for 3 if thats the reason you produce music, I think you ‘ve picked the wrong one!

And again, Im asking ya, are all USA DJS and radio and TV stations illegal? Is that what you are telling me? Or are you telling me that you have never listened to a tune made by someone played on radio by someone else?

Also there is a huge difference between playing others’ music as a DJ and producing a piece of music using copyrighted material if thats what you mean. The ways to obtain rights differ a LOT in these two cases.

Above he can only be when the criteria is money or fame! I never said those were my criteria – if yours are, then yes he is above you! Im not hating, Im expressing my opinion. Its you who are judging my opinion by implying that I should respect someone only because of his fame and money.
More famous than me? yes sure he is…….
    Richer than me….yes he is!
    My idol? No…..
    Jealous? Hell no Im not!
Would I want to be him? No as weird and unbelievable as you might find this!
Above me? A starving kid in Africa is above me! Not Guetta!

Then according to what you say, USA DJs are ALREADY all of them illegal! Something just doesnt fit in what you say!

Are you sure there is no “middle man” company that obtains the rights on behalf of the DJs by asking for fees from the venues?

And according to what you say, ALL USA radio stations are illegal, you are missing something!

(similar to what I described that happens in Greece)

I havent searched the laws internationally but its not so messy as you guys describe……The whole meaning of DJing is that when you DJ, artists DO get paid…How? Well at least here in Greece, every place that puts music, from clubs to small cafe’s pay a mothly fee to an organisation where artists are registered which is supposed to collect money from these places and give back the money to the artists according to how many times their tunes were played – at least in theory.

In simple words, you don’t need copyrights to DJ – but the place that makes money out of said played music has to pay fees that somehow theoritically go back to the copyright holders. If you needed copyrights to play other people’s music, then the radio is 99% illegal.

Justin Bieber makes more money than me and is way more famous than me! Guess what though, still not an artist, still dont feel beaten by him, still do not want to be like him! The argument of judging anyone’s opinion on a DJ-artist based on the DJ’s – artist’s popularity is childish…….to say the least!
