MemberGuys, I have to comment a bit on your views before it gets nasty lol.
I understand where you are coming from and I myself do not mix genres that I dont like. But I have an everyday job – totally irrelivant to mixing, DJing, producing.
BUT this is not a subject of right or wrong – its not a subject of being a “sell out” or not. Lets put it this way – if you have two starving kids, a rent to pay and you are a proffesional DJ, if DJing is your WORK, and you play techno stuff but you are offered a wedding ceremony djing I bet you ‘ll go and play. If not, you wont be a DJ for too long – you ‘ll be a broke homeless fellah.
Its all nice and cool and idealistic to be primarily an “artist” but always remember that not all people have this luxury!
Personally, I repeat, I am strict about what I play on my DJsets but I have utter respect for anyone trying to earn their living and I wouldnt blame them if that meant total compromise of their personal preferences – happens to my work all the time, good thing is I dont earn my living from music so I dont compromise in that.😉

MemberPioneer is the standard for Greece. You might as well see some Allen & Heath mixers rarely…….Havent yet played in a club which had CD decks other than Pioneer. In the rare occasion where a venue will have vinyl decks those will definitely be Technics.
Software wise 99% of the DJs use Traktor, 0.5% Ableton Live and 0.5% Virtual DJ.
Controller-wise, moste people using Traktor do so by using the club’s mixer so they dont actually use controllers – there are of course a lot with NI’s X1, fewer with S4s and even fewer with Akai APC 40 (those using Ableton).
Generally speaking controllers are not that big here in Greece up to now – but I think its starting to settle in

MemberI pretty much dont have too much to add! I usually do all the steps D -Jam described, only difference being the fact that I mix “in the box”. I use one channel on the venue’s mixer and my “actual” mixing happens inside my software’s mixer where I set it so that my virtual faders are maxed out when testing – this way I can do more easily cuts then boosts without worrying about the “end” position of my virtual deck’s fader. So in essence my only difference is, in a real mixer I would soundcheck with the mixer faders all the way up and not at 8. When a track is quiter I compensate with the software equivalent of the “gain trims”, if its louder I just use the volume fader…..Again I do this for practical reasons, even though as a sound engineer and completely theoretically you should only use the volume faders for that – its just the practicality of performing accurate sudden cuts then boosts on the decks.
As for using third party software to “correct” any tracks of my collection, I avoid that in the same way I would avoid a 64kbps mp3. If a track is not suitable production wise for my gig – set, I dont play it at all rather than trying to correct a crappy job the producer – mastering engineer did – although I might play a crappy track IF I believe its artistic approach – musicality wins over its sound fidelity.

MemberHe has some points, the first video BUT……
Im not judging anyone….but as some people shout to retain their right to like Guetta…….I retain my right to say that I believe he sucks, and he contributes to the death of real, inspiring, entertaining electronic music! I retain my right to say that electronic dance music didnt get bigger because of Guetta because what Guetta promotes is NOT (for my personal definition) electronic-club-dance music, and its not even house – its pop! And pop was always borrowing elements from other more underground genres, but it was always apparent when it was pop!
I dont have a problem with pop (besides not liking it)! Maybe some other people have a problem with it and thats why they “baptize” it as something else! Are yo so ashamed of your choice to like pop? I wouldnt be! Im not ashamed of the genres I like to listen! Im not judging you! You just take it as granted that pop is a shit genre – when you dont accept it by that name and “baptize” it club-electro-urban-house-pop-guetta-thingy or whatever the hell name you create. By the way I loooooooooved Nelly Furtado’s “Say it right”…I really did…I LOVED ITTTTTTTTT! Its a brilliant, most musical tune – recent gem in the vast shit ocean of pop I remember, there were more in the past. Production wise? It was shitty as hell, distorted as a broken amp, but still its musicality gave me goose bumps. See? Im not prejudiced – I just generally dont like pop – but there are exceptions – Guetta is not one of them sorry!
And yeah the crooooooooowds that went to listen to Guetta dont pay attention to whether he is really playing or not! But guess what, dumbshit, I do and thats why I wasnt there! Me and the rest of the planet that wasnt there! Should I also be forced to like Spice Girls because “people were there and they were having fun”…..Good for them! I dont have fun that way, sorry for not fitting into your scheme of things. STOP TELLING ME what to like! Period!
Cool! Im glad you are free to keep your opinion…..and I hope Im free to keep mine without being accused of being an “elitist”, a “purist” or a “high heels snob” which you are used to calling anyone with a different taste from yours….geeee!
that was my rant! Thanks for baring with me!

MemberFreebies, we ‘ve all done them, and under circumstances, still do! Pay to play? No way! It’s a matter of principle, not the amount of money! 😉

MemberBoth are very, very nice and “pro” looking……I prefer the headphones one as the “meters” one seems to be too generic, I cant remember how may music sites, dj profiles, labels online shops have similar logos!
The “headphones” even though some said are overused, for me personally are way more unique due to that “cable'” ! 😉softcore

MemberAh! Im so used to being a paying member of Soundcloud that I forgot the fact that you can only post your tracks-mixes to ONE group as a free member on Soundcloud. Well, frankly, I think Mixcloud is more appropriate for DJ sets and you can post them to as many groups as you want…..but if you really want to promote your stuff (be it mixes or tracks) on Soundcloud groups you really need to buy a membership…..Thats what I did but then again I am using it primarily for tracks and not for mixes! 😉

MemberJoin groups of similar genre – wait ! Doesnt happen fast, actually happens pretty slow, but if you are good people are gonna start noticing you and do the promotion to their friends and the thing goes on. if you got any facebook or twitter profiles also use those to post links to your stuff.
What I DONT do is post comments to other people’s mixes-tracks saying “Hey nice mix-track! I uploaded some of my stuff too! Care to check em out?” Im absolutely disgusted of this whole “flattery exchanging thing” that people seem to use and frankly? I never actually did bother to check out stuff of a guy who posted a similar comment to one of my tracks-mixes.

MemberD-wiz and when you get all famous and interviewed, you are bound to be asked: “What does D-wiz stand for?” To which you will cunningly reply “Dirty Wizard”…..Ha!

MemberAh! Just a couple of lines here and there were a bit “off”. Here are the final images, full logo and monogram, each in three sizes, all in png format (transparent background). I have tested them against white and black background and they are clearly visible and do not put strain on the eyes.

MemberHmmmm, just an idea….what if you “extend” the second “N” of Vinny to reach and be the “N” of Blanc too? ….and make the i and l disconnected. After all there are too many Ns in there. This way you ‘ll have the away-from-generic feel you want and still make the i,l, y, and c disconnected.
