Haha yeah the first thing I looked at was Serato Scratch Live but cost and sheer volume of kit compared to the simplicity of a laptop + controller was just too much.

Having a look at the reloop controllers they look very solid, and seem to include all the things im after (good jogs, long throw pitch fader, gains, VU leds etc. Seems like a strong candidate. Cheers

DJ Vintage, thanks for the feedback re: Gemini. Be sad to strike it off the list.

Disappointed with the lack of gain nobs on the DDJ-SB but I’ve adjusted most of my tracks in Serato which I think saves the gain level into the MP3 file, so hopefully I wont need to do that again.

The performance pads aren’t SUCH a big deal, although idea of having a sampler would be cool for dropping SFX on mixes.

Also I didn’t realise that Pioneer got where they are due to that. Good to know.

Terry_42 cool! I miss some of the hands on tricks etc I used to be able to do (I began DJing as a turntablist). At the same time, do you feel some of those things are better left to vinyl? After all, we have all the FX to play with no (I quite like using echo/delay to end a mix).

Hahaha another fallen soldier lol. C’est la vive!

As far as I know, all the controllers I’m looking at are entry level and of a similar price, I’m mostly comparing design and features. Software wise I’m not worried as I have the full version of Serato 🙂 so I’ve already been recording mixes on the Mixtrack Pro.

Yeah! I’ve been ogling the DDJ SR it looks awesome. But… I’m in Glasgow and the nearest one I can find in Gumtree is 100+ miles away (Newcastle). I’m tempted to save up the money but I don’t know how much I can justify the cost or how much I need the additional features. Very tempting.
