I researched for 3 months before I bought mine. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be the right controller for you of course. I do a mix of gigs, weddings, pubs, bars etc. So far I haven’t had any issues apart from with a laptop which I have now replaced. Very solid piece of kit with a metal case. I don’t scratch, so I can’t comment on the jog wheels. I find them perfectly suited to cueing up tracks etc.

Another vote for the Denon MC6000. It covers every eventuality. I have mine rack mounted in a flight case which also houses my laptop, my mic, my headphones and some cables. During gigs I have a smart phone connected to a through channel in case the laptop dies, and a spare laptop too. So easy to carry around and with 2 mic inputs and the other features it has I find it totally ideal for mobile gigs.

    I don’t want a mac. I hate mac. I don’t own a single apple product and I never will.

Low spec, high price, I don’t like glowing fruit. My question was not should I buy a Mac or a Windows laptop.

Thanks for your reply Chuck. Yes it will be dedicated to DJ’ing only. The Sony was a nightmare, I never tracked the issue down in 3 months and I tried everything, literally. Hoping the Dell will be trouble free. Thanks for the reply and the tips.

Tommy, as above, this will be a dedicated laptop, no games or internet. Also I run it with a flight cased Denon MC6000 with laptop shelf so the screen isn’t be very far away.

Tried a 13″ MBP at the weekend. Even that wasn’t too small really, but I can’t afford one. Simple as that really lol.

Personally I don’t supply references and I state this clearly on my website. In my opinion, and probably mine only, they aren’t worth the paper they are written on. Unless someone really insists on them for you to do the job. In that case, i’d lose the job.

    Hey Chuck,
Thank you for you comprehensive reply to my questions. I’m as we speak sifting through my folders which I have arranged as if they were boxes of records and trying to minimize my working collection.
I know exactly what you mean with knowing the vinyl intimately and hopefully will soon be in the same position with my digital library.
I shall refer to your post as I go through the cleansing of my files.

    Thanks again.
