    Steps to follow:

    Step 1: Make a SoundCloud account
    Step 2: Post your music there
    Step 3: Look for people with similar fan/friend count as you on SoundCloud.
    Step 4: Comment on their tracks, they’ll also take time to check yours.
    Step 5: Share it with us (Here in the Music and Mixes forum)
    Step 6: Look for a production forum, and share your music there.

    Many people will be willing to rate your work. At least, this worked for me. Make social media accounts and share your tracks there too.

    Hope I helped

    If you’re looking for an AKAI LPD8 AND a MIDI controller, then why not buy the MPK Mini? It’s the LPD8 + 25 mini keys, and it will get your job done!

    Ableton, Logic, SONAR and Bitwig Studio are all DAWs which help in arranging your music and to tweak it with effects. You can download demos for most of them online, So try them out and see which one’ interface you love. In case you are on an extreme budget or just don’t wanna spend money on a DAW, check out REAPER, it’s a great free DAW which will cater to all your basic needs.

    For synths, like Massive and Sylenth1, they create sounds based on your MIDI notes. Synths do take some time to get used to and if you’re new to this I recommend using TAL-Elek7ro and TAL-NoiseMaker. They are both great sounding FREE synths which have all the basics on them. Spend time on these and learn all the features and only then move to the paid ones.

    Another thing that you might want to look at are the effects. They help you to shape and enhance (or de-enhance) your sounds that you created with your synths (like delay, reverb, EQs, filters, etc). There are plenty of good FREE ones online.

    IMHO, you don’t have to spend even a penny on software when you’re starting out. First take your time and learn all you can and only then move on. Just my 2 cents. Hope I helped!

    Well, you could buy the V-Moda Crossfade LP2s, they are very similar to the M-100s. Only difference is that LP2 doesn’t fold while the M100 does. Phil’s done a review for both of them.

    @deathy I am still left wondering how you got my email. 🙂

    Yeah, I suppose. But, maybe I’m wrong, I don’t believe that God exists.

    Yeah, but probably I should forget about the headphones for a few months. Hopefully, I’ll hav saved enough by the end of this year. 🙂

    Well, they do cost less, but the moment tell my parents that I’ve got to buy three or they moment one breaks, they’ll go like: “I told you not to buy this one!”

    So, I need only 1 unit that will last. (Another wink at the 215?, I guess I’ll save up for ’em)

    @djrizki – What if you’re only 14? haha.

    Oh, and do tell me, is it worth saving up for the Sennheiser 215s? Or should I buy the 210s now and upgrade later. The key point is that I’ll be using my headphones for producing as well, and they HAVE to last at least 2-3 years, which is why I’m so scared to actually buy anything yet. To be honest, when posting my budget, I was pretty ashamed and after hitting ENTER, It dawned on me that people will just laugh at your dumb venture. I’m glad no one did. 🙂

    OK, Is there any difference between the 210s and the 180s? They both look exactly the same.

    I suppose you are right, DJ Vintage, its just that in India things are way too expensive for me to afford. being disappointed by many of my previous purchases, I thought that I’ll get the headphones out of the way, so just to test the waters I thought I’ll get something in that price range but it seems that I won’t get my hands on anything of that sort yet. But even a 100 USD is pushing the limits.

    So, anyways, if I get the detachable cable out of the way, then I would still prefer a single-sided cable. I was leaning towards the Numark Red Wave or the Sennheiser range.

    Roughly converted from Indian Rupees, its somewhere near 100$.

    @DJ Vintage: Not available in India, doh! But they seem pretty cool!

    @DJ
    Tuomari: They lie just a bit above my budget and they don’t have a detachable cable. But they certainly look cool!

    Thanks!

    Yes, thank you DJ Plasma, I have looked into the ATH M50 but I don’t think it has a detachable cable.
    And yes, I need a closed-back design because I’ll be DJing as well as producing with those.
    As for my budget, the V-Moda Crossfade LP lies just outside my savings, so you get the idea.

    Hope that helps. 🙂

    Since you said something about Logic, I’m assuming you’re on a Mac. In that case, check out GarageBand. It is a cut-down version of Logic, and will get you started for free.

    Or, you could buy a controller which comes with Ableton Live Lite/Intro and get started there. In the end, it all comes down to what works for you and how you like the workflow. So try out as many DAWs as you can find and stick to one you like the most.

    (I heartily recommend Ableton 🙂 Haha, Good Luck!)
