ParticipantHey there, Crazy Cuts, I’m not a pro by any means, but I’ll be glad to help you out. If you’re willing to give it the time it needs, then I’m sure you will enjoy it. Can you contact me on facebook, twitter or email? that way I can get in touch with you more, or if you don’t wanna do that, then start a new post dedicated to producing.

ParticipantYeah, well maybe I’ll get to play next month… And now I’ll have to pay the shop too.
πAt least I got a controller, maybe now I can learn more about transitions, scratching and stuff. π

ParticipantFailure. Big failure. My gig was postponed to next month. Damn, I was so disappointed.

ParticipantSo, the big event starts in about 15 hours from now. Everything is packed and ready and I’ve gone through all tracks I’ve decided to play.
I’m a bit nervous, but its reassuring to feel that I’m not alone.
Wish me luck π

ParticipantWhen you now load a new track now, does VDJ take time to analyze it?
If it does, then perhaps you have not copied over your database settings.
I’m on Windows, and I’ve kept all my tracks sorted by type and genre, and kept them in one master folder. Just outside the master folder, VDJ has created a .xml file (I can’t remember the name, but it said something like “Virtual DJ Database.xml”) or something similar. That was for Windows. I don’t know if the Mac version does the same. Try asking on the VDJ forums.

ParticipantUh, I meant “That will give you a taste of Ableton, and even if you donβt like it, you can still use THE MIDI CONTROLLER in your current setup”
I hope I helped. π

ParticipantIf you just want to “experiment” with software, then start with REAPER. It is a relatively simple “free” DAW which will cover all of your needs and will give you enough to make your tracks.
You can learn more about REAPER here: http://www.reaper.fm/
If you’re still set on Ableton (which is a great software, I use it too!), then I recommend you buy a MIDI controller that comes bundled with Ableton Live Lite. That will give you a taste of Ableton, and even if you don’t like it, you can still use it in your current setup. Unless you are using Serato DJ.
Here are some MIDI controllers that are good for DJing and come with Ableton Live Lite.

M-Audio Axiom Air Mini 32: http://www.m-audio.com/products/view/axiom-air-mini-32

Let me know what you think.

ParticipantOh, In the MTP2 it’s there as “STUTTER”. Thanks

ParticipantThank you all of you!!
I had stumbled accross Digital DJ Tips while choosing a DAW for me. Phil’s video “Moving into production” had come up on the Youtube panel and I gave it a go. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but it helped quite a bit. I instantly signed up for the free course and came here to the forums!
I’m so glad I did.

ParticipantSuccess! I’m now a proud owner of a mixtrack pro 2. Yeah, it is used, but who cares, I love it! I’m gonna practice for a while now.

ParticipantOkay, I’m off to the music store now.. Wish me luck!

ParticipantWhat’s a CUP button?

ParticipantAbout halfway through, I quite liked the breakdown. Perhaps about 29:30 or so. The energy just fades and dies and comes back again (That is good, btw).

ParticipantI’ll have a listen and let you know.

ParticipantSame here, I look at other’s stuff at leave feedback. They return the favour. Why not share your mixes in the music and mixes section? Then we too can do the same.
