MemberJust out of curiousity is there any big names DJs using Virtual DJ?

MemberProper club mixers always have nicer sounding EQs… thats my experience anyways. I don’t know the technical reasons behind it but they just sound better in general to me.

MemberI used VDJ when I was younger and first stuffing around with digital (it was in the days of turntables, which I had, so the whole thing seemed gimmicky)
Now I can’t see why anyone would use anything other then Traktor or Serato, VDJ just seems well. Gimmicky still.

and beer.

MemberWell the ability to map it to a few knobs, meaning you could turn 3 or 4 at once, something which is generally pretty hard with 2 hands.

MemberI think it has way more potential for a live show then a DJ set, a mate of mine was practically wetting his pants when I showed him the link, would bring a whole new element to the live ableton set (not using ableton to dj) and would allow you to move from behind the computer

MemberI’ve played a lot of Top 40 gigs in the past and I’ve generally never really had to warmup much at all, so long as there is people in the venue. I used to play after a band, so generally the trick was to get as many people back up dancing as the band tended to clear the floor. So I would generally start with a song that had an incredibly easy to identify start, which sometimes meant dropping a radio edit to avoid the banging intro, then usually girls would flock to the dancefloor, men following then usually I’d have a full floor right till the end.
Top 40 and warmup don’t go well together imo.
Oh and another tip, try avoid too many top 40 remixes, I’ve noticed they just piss people off, or you’ll just get requests to play the “proper version”

Memberan i5 with 6gb of RAM is massive for Traktor. You could probably browse the net and and watch a dvd while playing and not get skips . No need to strip it back too much

I guess you could call beatmatching a suprising skill these days.

I got a BCD2000 having done no research, plugged it in to my Windows 7 64bit laptop. Fail.
Was especially annoying as it’d been a big decision to even try out digital DJing (I’d been using turntables for about 8 years before that and wanted to try out one of these controller thingos befoe I blew a few grand on CDJ2000s)
It was only after setting it up on an old Windows XP laptop that I began to saw the opportunities, however I still tended to prefer using the turntables at home and CDJs when I was out .
Six months later I got a new controller.
Turntables have barely been used since (which is kinda sad) and the CDJ purchase is off the table .shr3dder

This then lets you use decks C & D as samples decks and loop recording. Once you install it you can configure the decks the way you want through the settings in Traktor and its easy to switch back and forth depending on whether you want C & D as regular or samples decks. Here are the relevant links.

Already tried those mappings, wasn’t a big fan.
Gonna order myself an X1 next week.

MemberThat looks like it’d be harder to plug in at a club then 99% of controllers, especially if it needs the entire back of the mixer…..

Memberor just try a new USB port?

MemberI run an i3 (2nd gen) with 4 gig of RAM and have no issues, I’ve even used a Centrino without too many issues.
I’d check what else is going on. Try a fresh install, then add things bit by bit to see what screws with it.

MemberDepends on how I feel, how things are going.. the crowd, vibe etc.. Planning sets is a ridiculous concept, especially if your playing out.
Pulling out that rare/old track you forgot you had at the perfect time is a great feeling
