Djay is very nice, its simple but very easy to use, i use it with the numark IDJ pro and love it, when sync’d with the hardware the samp banks open up and you can use the ipads touch screen during live mixes

I got my first gigs by pure luck, I was simply in the right place at the right time.

My first ever gig was in a pub where I worked behind the bar. The owner wanted to cut costs so rather than paying a mobile DJ £120 he asked if I wanted to do it for £ about £30 (what I would have earn’t behind the bar anyway.
I did it of an old PC with PC DJ on it and it was fine, faded up and faded in nothing remotely flashy but did the night fine and continued to do it for about 6 months until I left the job.

I got my first club night againn by pure luck, I was known as a bit of a character in this particular club, well known and friendly with the promoters and clubs entertainers and regularly partied with them.

They asked me to be on one of the clubs flyers so I went for the Photo shoot, got chatting with the main man, told him about my djing and he offered me a gig, this time it was at £300 a night!

I did well, got a residency eventually got board of it and packed in DJ’ing completely, the club every couple of years ask me to go back and I go and do a bit and I I have recently started playing there again as a resident on one of their chill out rooms.

The whole thing has been blind luck and personality, but I am very much investing in growing my dj skills hence the reason for joining this site and moving from a pc to a midi controller

I’m finding the smoothest way to do it is to loop the first 8 beats of the incoming track and mix into that and come out of the autoloop,

It’s not ideal I’m just asking if there are techniques that a more experienced dj would use, I also have not yet learnt to scratch properly

thanks Daryl can you briefly explain what a slam mix is?

is it just a straight cut from one track to the next?

    Thanks

    Hey terry,

I do a 2 hour show in garlands in Liverpool one of the bigger cubs in the uk.

I play n one of the chill out rooms and play a bit of funk/ soul/ disco and some laid back old school hip hop,

On top of that do do an act called kamikaze karaoke where I sing in costume perform comedy routines and get the clubbier involved by lettin then sin and scratching and cutting over the top of it,

Been a resident there on and off for 9 years and have just made the jump to digital
