ParticipantOh right will look into that then, as I enjoy the VDJ experience to be the best out of all the dj softwares ive tried. Traktor is very unusual software to me and looks as if it would take a hell of a long time to get into it, so for me I may be better off saving more cash and getting VDJ pro 7.

ParticipantTerry.
Another Question is what about traktor pro 2, would this be a better option? only 330 more than mixvibes and mapping options are available for my hercules mp3 e2.. Bit stuck as VDJ always laggs and crashes so don’t really want to risk buying the full pro version and it die on me at a gig :/

ParticipantFair enough, I haven’t tried to ruin the song or groove but everyone’s entitled to their opinion so thanks for that anyway, maybe if you listened on you would have heard some better transititions..
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantToo start with the processor is just under the requirements for pro speed so this maybe why your recordings are sounding distorted and not true quality, I would invest in a better spec lappy as its a better way forward but thats my opinion. Your ram is fine for any Djing software but the lack of speed within the Processor means that its not got the power to push through power intensive applications like djing software..

ParticipantThanks for that Terry, I suppose I need software that is mappable to the controller I have or if I change to be able to map to that to so that is helpful but mixvibes seems to support my Hercules MP3 E2 and the next controller I may go to next the Numark Mixtrack pro.. VDJ had crashed on me several times and it put me off investing in the full version but mixvibes seems to be more stable and bug free, and at a quarter of the price it should serve its purpose for mashups and remixes.
Maybe for the moment I should invest in Mixvibes, Get my first few gigs in then look for alternatives if I change controllers and equipment?

ParticipantI’d say the splitter, you can get them cheap off ebay for around £2 and it splits the sound into two outputs from your laptop.. I had one of those usb soundcards and they are cheaply made and break (mine did bad times) so i’d say go for the cable.. Also most of the free programs that split the sound for the usb cards don’t work so i would highly recommend the cable unless you want to invest £80 on a dj soundcard..

ParticipantThanks again for your help mate, Getting more and more confident every time I mix now and I’m actually for once looking forward to (doing something I think I’m getting good at) recording my next part to the mix. I agree I couldn’t see long transitions being used in disco music as its not the right type of music unless its an instrumental piece and long aha! I will investigate this Mixed in Key software as I believe this can help make my track selection even better 🙂
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantYeah good idea, I will stick it on the phone and cd to put in the car sounds good idea, so did the transitions sound alright then? Need to get my full pro version of VDJ and my sound setup then i can hit the pubs/clubs for gigs!
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantThanks Medik, I think I could lower the volume during the flanger thats a cracking idea! I’m feeling like im getting better every day more and more practise is the key to this! Glad you liked it more coming in the coming days!

ParticipantSorted I’m now on mix cloud! Heres that link to my new Disco mix! http://www.mixcloud.com/DJshaunpearcey/dj-shaun-pearcey-disco-mix-25012013-part-1-no-copyright-infringements-intended/

ParticipantJust created a new mix, but apparently its against Copyright so how can I sort this so I can upload it?
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantThanks for the feedback guys, Its funny you mention the dip in volume I do hear it now after a second listen. I went for a walk today and then came home set my gear up and hey presto I could beat match without the sync buttons it sounds weird as before I had to use the sync buttons but now a day after needing them its come to me in the mind aha! I use a Hercules MP3 E2 controller, great for learning on but now I’m getting this djing malarkey more I will probs need to up scale after my first few gigs.. With a laptop on gigs (when I start getting them) but atm I’m using my desktop to perfect things then will be switching to my lappy! I use Virtual DJ Pro (free trial) Still need to invest in that but I should be able to get a few gigs in with the license but I cant get a grips of Traktor or Serato Intro.. Plus my Controller doesnt work on both LE versions :/
Thanks for listening though, I will take all your feedback on board and now I can sort of beat match manually I will try make a longer better mix!
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantHey man I’m in the same boat as you as I’m just learning too, It sounds quite good tbh nothing sounds out of place and if I was in a bar/club and you were playing that set it doesnt sound like you were a beginner at all good job! Feel free to check my mix out too! https://soundcloud.com/shaun-pearcey/first-mashup-indeep-last-night

ParticipantIm in the UK so will look into that terry thanks for your help 🙂
Shaun Pearcey
ParticipantOkay so i will have to invest in full pro software and most of my music is paid for so look for more free/open source music to use 🙂 But in terms of personal licenses I dont need anything is that correct?
