ParticipantI would definitely have a play around with any behringer product before buying it. They can be hit and miss with build quality although they seem to be working on this and offer an excellent warranty. I would follow Phil’s advice and save a little more cash (I know its hard…I’m a terrible and impatient saver!). A mediocre budget will most likely yield a mediocre result – a controller that is of poor quality or will get boring/limit you’re mixing AGAIN. You won’t find anything with half decent jog wheels for you’re budget either.

ParticipantIts not out of the ordinary to play sets that long unless you’re quite well known, especially in pubs/bars as opposed to bigger clubs. Somewhat have a rough plan but be prepared to be flexible. Follow the feel of the crowd. Don’t smash out anything too heavy till later on.

ParticipantIts pretty rare to find a radio station that doesn’t compress the audio. I wouldn’t be too concerned.

ParticipantThers too many internet radio stations to name! iTunes has a pretty good selection that is broken down to pretty specific genres too.

ParticipantYou should make bigger jogs. Would be way easier to scratch and juggle.

ParticipantI must agree with synthet1c that Fatboy Slim is a terrible DJ (strictly mixing, not his productions). I wouldn’t generally advise learning anything from him but that is a pretty common technique so I’ll let it slide in this case ;-).
Last time he played a concert in Sydney, he was sooooo off his head he was pulling some terrible faces. They had 2 big screens either side of the stage and just had the camera zoomed in on his face for basically his whole set, to entertain everyone.Steelo
ParticipantI don’t know when this turned in to a debate about the “best” music genre?! I love EDM and Hip-Hop and have respect for both disciplines of DJing. I don’t know of anyone who is more than a bedroom banger who uses Beats by Dre. Not to say they aren’t dope, I haven’t used them for mixing…Maybe they’ve improved cause I remember when they first came out they were overpriced junk with terrible sound.

ParticipantSounds like something is wrong. It should be a reasonably firm click but nothing more.

ParticipantI had a friend who would play deep house and have a band play with him. He’d have a drummer, bass, sax, guitar etc. It was more like they were playing along to him instead of the other way around.

ParticipantSorry if I came across the wrong way. I realised I was a bit of an ass afterwards. My apologies. i’ll check out the link when I get home. I am interested in the controller you’re using. I’m assuming its something you’ve put together yourself. Tell me some more about it.

ParticipantI still find the jogwheels on CDJ 1000/2000’s to be better than any controller on the market. I still love mixing with them.
