I used these for a while. Nice ‘phones until you play in the louder venues where its harder to hear.

ParticipantDamn, I’ve been served by Phil. Can’t argue with the man, he knows his toys. The entry level Pioneers aren’t bad but definitely don’t have that “pro” feel to them. I’m terrible…I always want the best.

ParticipantThose are very different controllers to a mixtrack. The mixtrack pro is designed around the layout of a traditional decks + mixer combo. These have jogwheels and pitch controls and EQ controls. The launchpad & midifighter are basically just a bunch of buttons that can be mapped to control various things such as triggering samples or controlling effects etc Not to say you couldnt use these to DJ but its a completely different way to do it. People often would have a controller like the Mixtrack and have one of these cotrollers in addition to get a bit more creative.

ParticipantA touchstrip controller has touch sensitive pads or screen to control various functions. Its still digital, just a different way of using it. This can be great for doing certain things like quickly scrolling through a track to find a certain part but generally not so great for controlling everything as it can be hard to be completely accurate when making changes at times + accidental activation of things is easier

ParticipantI would partially tend to disagree with some of the statements Jorn said…whilst at the end of the day, you are the one controlling the music, you should be prepared to play requests. If the bride or groom ask you to play them then its not really negotiable IMO. I steer well clear of playing at weddings because I know they will want to hear almost everything I don’t want to play but I know the day/night is not about me.

ParticipantI have the non Adidas version of those. Definitely recommend. I really wanted the Adidas ones but at that time they were out of my budget and I got a crazy good deal on mine. I have a tiny head too so they are perfect. Otherwise the Pioneer HDJ2000 or Ultrasone’s are decent.

ParticipantMake sure you give the jogwheels a thorough test. I find the Denon’s have a bit of a lag with reacting to your movements or adjustments.

ParticipantI can relate to that. I’ve promised myself that this is the last toy I buy for a while.

ParticipantYou will be able to buy 2.5 but current 2.0 users get a free upgrade at the end of the month. I can’t wait!

ParticipantThere won’t be anything to regret as it was built on the strong foundation of Traktor Pro. I would suggest sticking to version 2.03 if you have any issues as this is the most stable release until 2.5 comes out at the end of the month.

ParticipantThere are many known bugs with the current version of Traktor. Roll back to Traktor Version 2.03 for the least issues. I have a near new Macbook Pro but still get issues with anything past this (particularly when using DVS). When 2.5 comes out at the end of the month, it will hopefully have all the new feature without too many bugs. They have put a lot of time in to development so I am assuming this is the case.

ParticipantMy advice would be stick to Pioneer for CDJs. Nothing else comes close. You’ll only be disappointed if you buy Denon or any other brand. The 900’s will have a a higher quality and more rugged “club standard” build over the 850’s. I would personally save the extra cash and get the 900’s.

ParticipantThe ability to multi-task ie mix tracks whilst digging for your next one whilst knocking back jager bombs whilst chatting up the ladies.

ParticipantPractice makes perfect my friend. Keep at it and you will have it down soon enough. Beatmatching on jogwheels is much easier than on vinyl so you’ll pick it up quickly.

Thanks bud!
At this stage NI has stated that the only controller (at this stage) that can control all 64 slots is the F1. Even if you have another larger controller like a Novation Launchpad, NI Maschine or similar, you will only be able to control the first 4 slots of each bank. The F1 was designed from the ground up to be fully integrated with the remix decks. -
