I think this app will be really useful to a lot of people, mainly because it has pitch control. I can see a lot of situations where you would use the iPad to play a video source, and do your typical mixing with your controller, TT, software etc. I think the simplicity, yet, very precise “vinyl control” in VSCRATCH is going to impress a lot of people, and satisfy the old-schoolers by making mixing “manual”..anyways check out the app. Tell ’em Steve sent ya haha, (these days I feel like I’ve lost my “influential” touch) , but I have some stuff in the works for showing the potential of not only the VSCRATCH app, but video in general.Looks good but I’m not entirely understanding the concept. Is it scratching via the touchscreen or you can run it through other software?

ParticipantSounds like you’re swaying towards Traktor judging by the controllers you picked ie solid effects sections. Best software in my opinion (easily has best effects and mapping creativity options) but do what works for you.

I think I’m living in the wrong place! Sounds magical.

ParticipantI’m really interested i getting in to so VJing in the future. I wish Native would made an add on for Traktor but from what I understand, they have stated they have no interest in having anything to do with video.

ParticipantSerato is a great piece of software for regular old mixing but thats ultimately moved to Traktor and the S4.

ParticipantThey are all excellent controllers, depending on what software you would like to stick with and your mixing style. The S4 has extremely tight integration and midi communication with Traktor. The 4Trak looks pretty legit and can be an independent mixer which is a handy feature + the effects section looks good. I haven’t used one however. The NS6 is solid and a good contender if you use Itch.

ParticipantGo for a mild window cleaner, used liberally with a cloth or towel to get off any soil or marks. Then I use the microfibre cleaning cloth that came with my macbook to get rid of any streaks and really make it shine. Be very careful when cleaning with liquids though.

Hit the nail on the head. This is the correct answer.

ParticipantYou need to register as a business and/or obtain any appropriate licensing. It looks like you’re already clued in to getting insurance. As far as I’m aware, thats the essentials to be a legit business. It might be worth seeing some sort of business solicitor, just to cover your bases.

ParticipantApparently beta testing is starting within the next few weeks. I’ve signed up for it. Hopefully I get a spot!

ParticipantUntil computers have AI that can sense emotions, they will never take over. Even if they could do this job…unless they enslave us all, I doubt we would just get rid of human DJs. We would probably only replace humans in jobs that suck!

ParticipantIts all about who you know too, and it sounds like you just made a connection. Congrats!

ParticipantWelcome! Its a pretty tough path to actually make any decent money off this but if you have the passion and drive then you will succeed!

ParticipantThere ahve been some great partnerships over the years. Two (or more) minds can get extra creative. It can be a tonne of fun too! I say go for it and if things don’t work out then you can just go your separate ways.
