So many options for you. To be honest check out the demo’s of Traktor, Serato Itch or Virtual DJ (free downloads from their websites) and just play on your laptop to see which one sits best with your workflow. To be honest none of them are particularly difficult to set up or use the basic functions of. Reading a few manuals and watching a few youtube vids will answer most of your questions then just practice.
Vestax make a few nice controllers that are high quality, durable and well designed and will probably have a more “respected” view amongst some DJs but there are tonnes of other brands and really you shouldn’t let that concern you. Buy what works for you and let your mixing do the talking.

If you’re bored then this is the perfect opportunity to find some music that isn’t boring to mix without patrons dancing. Take advantage of the flexibility your digital gear offers you and make some cool mashups or live remixes. At the end of the day if you really love mixing you will stumble on things that keep a less than energetic set interesting for you…if not then consider, as mentioned above, the other advantages that could come of this such as scoring other gigs and making some coin.

Behringer Eurolive B212D or B215D if you can afford it.

I would say that the EPA900’s woofers are too small for what you want. Considering your budget, maybe look at something like the Behringer B215D’s. 10″ woofers will lack any power in the low end.

If you get a chance to see Dub FX live then do it. He’s a beatboxer that just uses a loop recorder to layer all the sounds of his song then sings or raps over them. He’s awesome and a really nice dude.

    Triple 3 is much better.

I would also add that 6 o’clock for your EQs is a bit extreme. Try to keep them as close to 12 o’clock as possible. Its better to take away from the song you are mixing out than to go overboard with boosting the track you’re mixing in.

Its hard to say what caused the audio to cut. Possibly your amp switched off/blew a fuse as it was being overloaded. Mine doesnt switch off but drops the volume pretty dramatically if I push it too far for too long.
In terms of your audio settings…you’re coming in way too hot. 0 db is the max output before you affect the audio negatively so you need more headroom to allow for volume changes due to EQing, more than 1 track playing etc. Check out this article about the subject:

    http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/03/traktor-gain-sound-level-settings/

I would recommend everyone read this as its one of the most overlooked things in the DJ booth simply because people are not aware of the correct settings. The recommended by Native Instruments is -6 db or lower. It should be about the same for any brand of software. Just as a guide I actually have my Traktor software set to -10 db (with the additional headroom preference turned off as this is plenty) as the volume often starts to increase the longer you play.

Since you’re asking for peoples opinions I’ll give mine…but you won’t like it….
Names with numbers replacing letters are a bit “teen”. Maybe try something with the correct spelling. Just my 2 cents.

It will never be anything more than a toy. A fun toy but still a toy. I’m wondering if its a controller that can only control the online software or if it does midi too?

I have a few “must play” tracks (usually some brand new bangers) but thats about the only planning I do. I’ve always got Traktor playlists that I can refer back to.

Truth be told it is slightly snappier with some things…didn’t affect Traktor or Ableton in any way though. I guess I’m just used to Windows PCs (this was my 1st Mac) where it seems to make a world of difference after doing this. The Apple operating system really is rock solid from that respect.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but you would have to use timecode vinyls to sync your music with the master clock. You can select live input for a deck and spin vinyl through that but it is just a straight audio signal (what you would use if you want to spin some real vinyl with your digital tracks). Otherwise I think you would have to work out the tempo and set the master clock manually, making sure you time your button pressing and knob tweaking perfectly.
